Back from a fair absence to make hurdles debut having won a bumper on debut at Bangor when 33-1. Failed to follow up under a penalty at Ffos Los in similar event (25-1), would need to be tuned up to make an impression.

Ex-French hurdler/chaser (0-4), ran well on his C&D debut forcing the pace despite running very freely eventually falling at the last when beaten. Should strip fitter for that run, now in a first-time tongue-tie/cheekpieces combination.

Fair winner on the Flat at up to 14f, progressing from his debut over hurdles last time at Uttoxeter (15.8f) giving the winner a real fright when looming large in the latter stages, ought to be able to make his presence felt in this sort of event.

Failed to improve in bumpers having shown some promise in his earlier forays in that sphere, Now makes his hurdles debut on his second run back from a wind op, would need to step forward markedly to get involved in what looks a competitive affair.

Three runs over hurdles when with David Dennis showed that he had some ability in this sphere although his jumping is still rather sloppy. Well below-par on his first run for this yard on the Flat last time, back hurdling with questions to answer.

Worcester bumper winner on debut who failed to progress in that sphere but has blossomed again over hurdles of late. Promising run telegraphed by the market move last time when dropped to this trip at Uttoxeter, further progress likely.

Fair sort on the Flat at up to 12f although it's been a while since he's won; in decent form since joining this yard in three AW starts. Returns from an absence for his hurdles debut, given his Flat form needs to be respected, note a market move.

Fair sort on the Flat last year winning at up to 12.1f for Ann Duffield. Off ten months before making his hurdling debut for this yard (may have needed the run), faded late on after showing some promise, no surprise to see him fare better here.

Showed not much more than inexperience on his bumper debut at Ludlow earlier in the year going in snatches. Hurdles debut wasn't any better at Uttoxeter recently, finishing well held after jumping moderately, major progress required.

Making steady progress in his hurdling career go close to emulating his debut effort at Uttoxeter last time (15.8f). Kept on well, taking second near finish (had running left), leading candidate but may find this sharp 2m on the short side.

Given his hurdling debut on the back of a creditable fourth on the Flat last time at Salisbury (14.2f) having had a wind op. Dam half-sister to fairly useful 2m hurdle winner Diodorus, looks of some interest, appealing if market proves positive.

Tongue-tie worn for bumper debut is retained having only hinted at having some ability in a race that turned into a bit of a mess. More required now she makes her hurdles debut in a race that has some depth.

Twice a runner-up in novice hurdles at Doncaster and Catterick highly-tried in Listed company in between those two runs. Bit more needed to win in this company, should prove better for the run, one to note for handicaps in the future.
Newcomer, half-sister to 3 winners, including modest 15f hurdle winner Tangley and winning hurdler/modest chaser Minella Voucher. Dam, placed twice on Flat in Germany, faces a stiff task on debut, best watched on this occasion.

Forecasts

Leroy Brown (9/4), El Borracho (11/4), Rock On Tiger (10/3), Dante's View (11/1), Cuban Sun (14/1), Doukarov (20/1), Manjaam (20/1), Ferry All (20/1), Kingfast (22/1), Calum Gilhooley (25/1), Ninepin Bowler (40/1), Move Closer (150/1), Owbeg (150/1), Filly Knickers (200/1)

18:30 Southwell - 4 August 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A fair race of it’s type and a tough one to unravel with plenty of contenders for the selection. Rock On Tiger made a promising return to action at Uttoxeter finishing with running left in the tank but that trip looked on the short side and over the same distance he may find this all happening too quickly again. El Borracho ought to be able to win something of this ilk given his hurdles form so far and he along with the Ex-French hurdler/chaser Doukarov now in a first-time headgear combination look dangers. LEROY BROWN posted a good effort at Uttoxeter last month and still looks as though he has room for improvement having already proved quick enough to win a bumper.
  1. Leroy Brown
  2. El Borracho
  3. Rock On Tiger
