By Gleneagles. First foal. Dam was placed over 6f/7f as a two-year-old. Stiff task on debut conceding upwards of 5lb to all 13 of his rivals.

Sole winner in the line-up made it third time lucky when off the mark at Limerick (6f; good) after previously proving costly to follow (turned over at 13/8f & 11/10f). 5lb penalty to shoulder but this isn't a strong race so has leading claims.

Made a likeable racecourse debut when third at the Curragh (7f; yielding). Drop in trip looks the right move on that basis (effort petered out inside the final furlong last time). Could make the most of the 5lb she receives from Georgio Vasari.

Only beat one rival home in a five-runner contest on debut over this trip at Navan (6f; yielding) last month. Runner-up has come out and won since, but he would need to improve significantly to have a leading chance. Each-way claims at best.

Son of Dandy Man. Gelded ahead of debut which tempers enthusiasm. €6,000 yearling whose dam was a 7f two-year-old winner. Unlikely to play a leading role on debut for yard not firing on all cylinders.

Not much was expected on debut at Naas (5f; good) when he finished sixth behind the potentially above-average Steel Bull (won the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last week). Likely improver though so has place claims.

Below-par when upped to 7f at Roscommon (7f; yielding). Does need to bounce back but he is not completely ruled out given he displayed evident promise when fifth in a hot race (won by Admiral Nelson) at the Curragh (5f; good to firm) on debut.

€2,500 two-year-old. Half-sister to three winners including 6f/'Listed' scorer Champers Elysees. Stable not readily associated with winning newcomers so a watching brief is advised with this one.

Ran to a solid level on all three starts to date (including when fourth behind Frenetic two starts ago). Step up in trip could bring about some improvement and she should be bang there.

Newcomer by New Bay makes her debut for yard who continue to enjoy decent strike-rate (7-31; 23%) over the last two weeks. €35,000 yearling. Half-sister to six winners. Could play a part on debut & betting likely to prove informative.

Difficult to make a case for after showing no improvement from low-key debut effort to finish well-beaten again at the Curragh (6f; yielding) when dropped back to this trip for the first time. Look elsewhere for more realistic alternatives.

Took a major backward step after what was a promising debut effort when well-held at the Curragh (6f; good to yielding) recently. Must bounce back but may be worth another chance. Place claims given fair debut form.

Dragon Pulse filly. Sales price rose from €16,000 as a foal to €42,000 as a yearling. Half-sister to a couple of winners (both of whom won over this trip). Market check advised with this newcomer.

Minimal ability shown on either start so far. Unlikely she will trouble the leading contenders. Sent off 150-1 last time out and likely to be a big outsider once again. Gains handicap mark after this.

Forecasts

Choice And Chance (6/5), Charmed (3/1), Giorgio Vasari (4/1), Blue Cabochon (12/1), Artistic Work (14/1), New Emerald Bay (16/1), Going Global (33/1), Lunar Space (50/1), Ginato (50/1), Chevillon (66/1), Tullypole Annie (66/1), Dandyville (100/1), Performance Plus (200/1), Amazing Emma (300/1)

14:05 Naas - 3 August 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

After failing to reproduce the form he showed on debut when fifth in a decent contest, Lunar Space may have had excuses and could subsequently be worth chancing dropped back in trip. However, it is concerning that stable jockey Kevin Manning prefers the newcomer Artistic Work. Choice And Chance is a likely improver for Jessica Harrington, while Blue Cabochon could raise her game trying 6f for the first time. In what doesn't look the strongest of contests though, we'll stick with GIORGIO VASARI who showed a gutsy attitude to not be denied by a warm favourite when finally shedding his maiden tag at the third attempt. He can give weight and a beating to these.
  1. Giorgio Vasari
  2. Lunar Space
  3. Choice And Chance
