14/1
Won five chases on goodish ground between June 2017 and September 2018 but lightly raced and only one performance of note since; two recent poor runs over hurdles does not inspire confidence; usually well backed if fancied.

Landed 2m6f Tramore hunter chase four starts ago but has subsequently struggled though fair effort on seasonal reappearance last month offers some hope; probably needs more help from the handicapper.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-8| J: J S McGarvey| T: D J Ryan| OR:  96| C

Point and 3m soft-ground hurdle winner but soundly beaten all four starts since last win including on fence handicap debut when last seen in March; opposable.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: S F O'Keeffe(5)| T: S J Mahon| OR:  95
28/1
One win from 17 starts over the larger obstacles with a long losing run beginning to mount up. Well beaten and never nearer on comeback run at this venue over 2m4f in June and fell last time here in July; hard to telegraph his chance of success.

Miserly return of one from 24 over the chase obstacles and has appeared to struggle in a number of starts last winter; looks temptingly handicapped but other preferred at present.

Sliabh Mhuire Lassp,t13
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: J J Slevin| T: Mrs G O'Connor| OR:  94
28/1
Seven-race maiden over fences; needs to find a bit of her point-to-point form following a number of inept efforts over fences between October/March and on reappearance run at Tipperary last month when pulled up when detached.
7
Horse silk
Cappuccino Manb,t7
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-5| J: B Browne(5)| T: O McKiernan| OR:  93| D
22/1
99-rated handicap hurdler who is yet to hit the frame in five starts over the larger obstacles; needs a sizeable improvement to mix it here after pulling up last time at Tramore in July.

Arctic Lightp237
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: M P Walsh| T: T Mullins| OR:  90
85/40
Much better hurdler; chase career is particularly poor having beaten only two horses home from seven starts.

Humps And Bumpst15
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: A W Short(3)| T: P Croke| OR:  89| D
11/1
91-rated handicap hurdler. No impression on debut over the larger obstacles at Clonmel in March before a similar story at Tipperary and here last month. Not one to place a great deal of faith in.

Mr Jacarandat197
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: P T Enright| T: A J Martin| OR:  88
11/1
Soundly beaten in three chase starts around the turn of the year mainly let down by his jumping; if he has schooled better after a break then it may be worth keeping an eye on the market.

My First Symphonyt14
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: D J O'Keeffe| T: Patrick Cronin| OR:  86
7/1
Well beaten on all four chase starts but showed a bit of progression on his latest start at Tramore suggesting she is no forlorn hope if getting her act together.
12

Mary Fieldsh14
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-9| J: M Hamill(3)| T: N P Hennessy| OR:  83
18/1
Tailed off beaten 120 lengths on chase debut here last month but much improved effort next time at Tramore; going in the right direction and fair place claims at the very least.

Horse silk
Maureen's Star17
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: C P McNamara(5)| T: L Lennon| OR:  74| C
5/1
Not unbacked when landing the spoils here in June, her first victory over the larger obstacles in 13 starts; failed to take advantage of favourable hurdle handicap mark next time; has better chance than most off light weight.
14
Horse silk
Shanklys Dawnp,t33
Age: 9|  Weight: 9-12| J: C D Maxwell| T: P J Rothwell| OR:  68| D
66/1
Has won four times over fences but shown very little since last victory in May last year; beginning to look very well handicapped and certainly worth a look in the betting to gauge stable confidence.

17:35 Kilbeggan - 1 August 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

MAUREEN'S STAR won at this track on her penultimate start and is taken to score again against a rag-tag mob of weak handicap chasers. The seven-year-old took 13 starts to land her first race but she did it in good style. Connections could not resist trying to take advantage of her lenient hurdle mark last time. That backfired but back over fences she could score again. Mary Fields was disastrous on her chase debut here two starts ago but put in a much better performance last time at Tramore (albeit in a weak race). If she shows more progress then she could go well. Watch out for any market for Mr Jacaranda. If his jumping has improved he will be a danger.
  1. Maureen's Star
  2. Mr Jacaranda
  3. Mary Fields
