Broke very long losing run when scoring over this trip at Carlisle 12 months ago and was solid second at Musselburgh last October off 4lb higher than today. Fair return effort when mid-division here over 1f less last month.

Stable won this race two years ago. Taking drastic step up in trip from 6f and obviously has stamina to prove. Only success came at 6f in January in Newcastle novice event. Falling down the weights and worth a market check.

Best with some cut in the ground and only win to date came in Pontefract 1m maiden on soft in 2017. Only had two starts in last 12 months and wasn't disgraced when seventh on reappearance at Thirsk last month over 1m.

7f Wolverhampton novice winner in April 2019 for Marco Botti but failed to build on that and moved to current yard in December running three times on AW so far. Interesting back on turf for only fourth time in career and tries new trip.

Disappointing in seven starts for Jonathan Portman last year and didn't show much first two runs for current yard last winter. Much better since return though and stayed on well 1m3f here last time to score off 3lb lower. Drops back in trip.

Ran 14 times without success for Tim Easterby in 2017-18 but not seen since. Makes debut for new handler after very long absence and will surely benefit from this first start back.

Finished last all three starts last season but different proposition since going handicapping this term. Second over 1m at Newcastle in March, and second again following another break over extended mile here last month. Extra 1f will suit.

Ten places but only two wins from 32 starts tells its own story. Has run creditably all four starts this summer (including over hurdles latest) and first-time blinkers now added to focus her mind. Bold show perfectly possible.

Showed next to nothing first seven starts over two seasons but different story this summer running well both starts in July and being beaten just one length at Beverley latest. 1lb lower and should be thereabouts once again.

16-race maiden who hasn't really done enough in three runs so far this term to suggest he's going to trouble the judge here. Handler still looking for first career success.

Mile maiden winner for Sir Michael Stoute way back in 2015 but no joy since then. Beaten a nose at Carlilse 1m3f last year but has shown next to nothing since and trip may be sharp enough for him these days.

Only a slight hint of ability on first trhee starts but attracted market support for handicap bow at Thirsk 1m last month. Finished well beaten 11th of 13 that day but worth another market check as may have been showing something at home.

19:45 Hamilton - 1 August 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

AYR POET has turned the corner since going handicapping and on the back of two solid placed efforts so far this campaign is taken to get off the mark here with the extra furlong set to boost his chance. Recent C&D winner Havana Go could be the main danger and will be competitive again off just 3lb higher, and although the drop back to this trip may not be ideal, recent course 1m3f winner Flying Moon will also make his presence felt. Amourie is another with claims after a solid fourth at Beverely last time, and top weight Zealous should be better for a respectable first run back here three weeks ago.
