C&D winner who has the beating of Spanish Angel on the form of both wins this summer. Sole below-par effort sandwiched between those two successes can be excused at Royal Ascot. Career-high mark but going the right way and has to feature.

Third in the Molecomb Stakes over C&D last year. Failed to progress since then and made no impression when dropped into this grade at Pontefract (5f; good). Needs first-time cheekpieces to revitalise him in a major way.

Makes handicap debut after finding 'Listed' company too much on return to action at Sandown (5f; good) in the 'Scurry Stakes'. Should appreciate ease in grade, but has something to prove judged on how she has fared since winning on debut.

Sights lowered slightly after she contested the Palace Of Holyroodhouse handicap on seasonal reappearance at Royal Ascot (5f; good to soft) when failing to get involved. May strip fitter from that off 3lb lower mark but vastly more needed now.

Runner-up to Electric Ladyland over C&D two starts ago when running on strongly from the rear. Let herself down when never involved at Newmarket (6f; good to firm) last time. Worth another chance after being given ample time to recover.

Back on track when prevailing by the narrowest of margins (a nose) at Windsor (5f; good to firm) last week. Career high-mark to defy in what looks a more competitive heat. Needs cheekpieces to yield further progress out of her.

Consistent sort whose form ties in closely with a few of these rivals. Not disgraced when fourth in a competitive affair at Yarmouth (6f; good to firm) when upped in trip for the first time. Real player back at 5f.

Chasing a five-timer. Another 3lb higher in the weights after showing a likeable attitude to fend off all challengers at Chepstow (5f; good) last week. This is a notable step up in class, but foolish to dismiss when in such sparkling form.

Record of 0-6 on turf somewhat tempers enthusiasm and he was slammed by an impressive winner at Bath (5f; firm) when last seen. Can produce the odd below-par effort from time to time too so looks risky.

Forecasts

Caspian Queen (4/1), Spanish Angel (9/2), Bal Mal (5/1), Electric Ladyland (11/2), Show Me Show Me (13/2), Flippa The Strippa (8/1), Glamorous Anna (9/1), Newyorkstateofmind (18/1), Hand On My Heart (20/1)

13:10 Goodwood - 30 July 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

After he recorded his fourth straight win in a row at Chepstow last week, Bal Mal is likely to be popular as he bids to keep his winning streak going. However, this is the first time he has raced in a class three before, so he must prove himself in this grade. Therefore, preference is for the top-weight ELECTRIC LADYLAND who has been in good form herself this summer (2-3) and was a C&D winner in June. This mark demands more but she has been consistent in the main this year, and is worth chancing to follow-up her Windsor victory. Spanish Angel is held by the selection on form but should be involved with the drop back to 5f in his favour, as should Caspian Queen.
