Night of Thunder colt who won a 7f novice at Lingfield (firm) last month, but struggled against Earthlight when last of 8 in a Listed race at Deauville a week ago. Should do better, but others stronger nonetheless.

Has won all three starts at this trip, and improved further when taking a 6-runner handicap at Newmarket last time by a short head from Gifted Ruler. Looks well up to Listed standard, and expected to make a bold bid up in class.

Better effort to date when 3½L second of 11 to Evening Sun in a Newmarket novice last time, but takes a big jump in class, and looks to face a very stiff task.

In frame in Listed races at slightly shorter at Chantilly and Windsor this year, and has won four times at up to 7f, but he's fully exposed after 11 career outings. Another placing the best he can realistically manage here.

Largely consistent in good company last season, and showed he had trained on well when fourth of 16 to Golden Horde in Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last time. Stamina not assured, but he must be considered down in class.

Won 7f novice events at Leicester and Chelmsford as a 2-y-o, and seemed not to stay when a respectable 5L seventh of 10 to Establish in a 1m handicap at Newmarket last time. Not without a chance back in trip.

Won on debut, and good fifth in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood on final 2-y-o outing. Progressed again when 3¾L third of 13 to Molatham in Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot on return. Shortlisted on that effort.

Not discredited on return in G3 Pavilion Stakes at Newcastle, and improved on that when third of 16 to Golden Horde in Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last time. One to consider with 7f likely to suit.

Has improved for switch to this yard, finishing a close fourth in fillies' Listed races at Haydock won by Liberty Beach and Under The Stars. Not underestimated now taking on the boys.

Forecasts

Symbolize (5/2), Boccaccio (10/3), Ventura Rebel (11/2), Royal Commando (7/1), Surf Dancer (9/1), Stormy Girl (10/1), Additional (12/1), Maystar (22/1), Lincoln Bright (40/1)

13:55 York - 19 July 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Ventura Rebel and Royal Commando ran well when third and fourth in the Commonwealth Cup, and the former is more likely to be suited by this longer trip, so can confirm form, but preference is for SYMBOLIZE, whose third to Molatham in the Jersey Stakes is of similar merit. Andrew Balding's colt had not raced since early last August, and ought to progress again, while the unbeaten Boccaccio takes a step up in class, but will be a threat to all.
  1. Symbolize
  2. Boccaccio
  3. Ventura Rebel
