By Exceed And Excel and made €135,000 as a yearling. Powerful connections do well at this track and interesting to see what the market makes of this newcomer.

Finished sixth behind a subsequent 'National Stakes' winner on debut at Doncaster (5f; good to firm). Would need to step up quite a bit on what he showed to play a leading role in this contest. Yard in good form.

Out of the two in this race who have experience on their side, he has the better form to his name which was achieved when he finished third over C&D to the useful Muker. This looks a less taxing assignment on paper and he is the one to beat.

Camacho filly. Half-sister to three winners including 6f winner Music Therapist. Dam won over 7f. Respected on debut but market likely to be the best guide to her chances.

Forecasts

Nomadic Empire (1/2), Ancient Times (5/2), Max Oclock (12/1), J R Cavagin (22/1)

12:15 York - 18 July 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A disappointing turn out for this opening contest with NOMADIC EMPIRE fancied to build upon the promise he showed over this C&D last week when third to an exciting sort. That is the best form on offer and it will take a decent sort to beat the selection. If he is to be turned over, Ancient Times looks the most likeliest candidate to spring a minor surprise. His connections have a history of success on the Knavesmire. This debutante cost €135,000 as a yearling, is bred to be useful and starts out at a manageable level. Max Oclock is the other newcomer in the field and could run into a place, while J R Cavagin showed minor promise on debut in a decent race.
  1. Nomadic Empire
  2. Ancient Times
  3. Max Oclock
