25/1
Newcomer from a yard who have struggled with their 2yo's this year (4-42), well below their usual first-time out strike-rate. Third foal, dam 1m2f winner out of useful 2yo 5.7f/6.5f winner Violette, best watched unless market signals are strong.

8/1
Both efforts so far (runner-up both times) have something to recommend them running to a similar level to his debut last time at Ripon upped to 6f. Positive is that he knows his job although may not have much progress left against some fair rivals.

Diamond Haze18
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-5| J: P Mulrennan| T: M Dods
11/1
Showed a lot of inexperience on his debut at Redcar (6f, good/soft) ran around under pressure (hampered several). The fact that he still managed to come third highlighting that he has some potential, may need this again to further education.

Visor now on first-time having failed to come on from his debut at Redcar (6f, good/firm) last time having been made a strong favourite. Given reminders a long way out, the headgear will need to spark a revival, comes with risk attached.

Horse silk
22/1
Newcomer from a stable that are far from noted for their 2yo's especially on their debut (0-13). 4,000gns yearling, second foal, dam 6f winner. Given the yard's profile hard to recommend a winning debut.
6
(11)
Horse silk
66/1
One of two newcomers from this yard (0-6 with debutants this year, 3% newcomer strike-rate overall). £5,000 yearling, half-brother to several winners, including useful 5f (including at 2yo) winner Maygold, market would need to be positive.

Yard also run another newcomer in this (Red Headed Tiger), 2,000gns yearling, second foal, half-brother to winner abroad by Gregorian; dam unraced. Like his stablemate looks an unlikely debut winner to improve those statistics for the yard.

Susucaru26
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: Jim Crowley| T: G Boughey| BF
4/1
Second on her debut at Pontefract (6f, good) when clearly knowing her job but had to just give best to one with previous experience. Form franked by the win of the fifth next time out; a repeat of that run would put her into calculations here.

Horse silk
80/1
Newcomer, £10,000 yearling, first foal. Dam 5f/6f winner (won 10 races for this yard), half-sister to useful 5f winner Tumblewind. Yard not known for their first-time out 2yo's (1-125 since 1997), should do better further down the line.
10
(5)
Horse silk
5/6
Made a promising start to her career on the AW at Newcastle (5f, slow) keeping on well to finish second in a race that has produced subsequent winners. Highly-tried (not disgraced) in Group 2 Queen Mary at Ascot, sets a high standard on form.

Horse silk

Went backwards from what was a modest debut when upped to 6f at Redcar last time still looking in need of more experience. Slow away and never really involved this appearance should tell us more about her aspirations.

Horse silk
Wispering Angel10
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-13| J: S A Gray| T: R Spencer
13/2
Given a kind and considerate introduction which should be repaid on future occasions at Newmarket (6f, good). Held up, and not given a hard time, ran on at the finish, should be more to come in the future.

Horse silk
Full Of Sass12
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: R Ffrench| T: N Tinkler
100/1
Little impact in a brace of turf maidens over 5f at Beverley and Hamilton. Looks ready for a try at this trip (soon outpaced last time) but hard to see her improving enough to trouble the main players.

Horse silk
Misty Awanah1
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: Joey Haynes| T: I Furtado
80/1
Newcomer, hooded for this first experience from a yard that are 1-45 with debutante 2yo's since they started training. £2,000 purchase as a 2yo, first foal, dam twice-raced half-sister to useful winner up to 8.6f Putra Sas, best watched.

Forecasts

Mamba Wamba (5/6), Susucaru (4/1), Wispering Angel (13/2), Dandy's Max (8/1), Diamond Haze (11/1), Rishworthian (16/1), Baba Reza (22/1), Brazen Prince (25/1), Selfless Act (66/1), Red Headed Tiger (66/1), Alive Wire (80/1), Misty Awana (80/1), Liberty Breeze (80/1), Full Of Sass (100/1)

17:30 Thirsk - 6 July 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not an enormous amount of strength in depth in this 2yo novice which ought to present Queen Mary eighth MAMBA WAMBA with a good chance of scoring after that stiff examination last time. Her debut form is good enough to win this and with no real obvious dangers amongst the six newcomers her main threat looks to be Susucaru. She was a good second on her debut at Pontefract only losing out to one with previous experience and she should pick a race up in the future. Dandy’s Max has run two sound races but his progress isn’t guaranteed and Diamond Haze and Whispering Angel appeal as two with more progress in them, the latter in particular.
  1. Mamba Wamba
  2. Susucaru
  3. Wispering Angel
