Won over shorter trips at Leicester and Wolverhampton last year, but shapes as if worth a try at this trip. Needs to put a disappointing return at Pontefract behind her, however.

Winner over 1½m at Kempton for Andrew Balding in 2018, but restricted to just one run over hurdles since joining current yard. Opposable after being absent since January last year.

Won over this trip at Sandown last June (good/soft) and ran creditably when 4½L third of 9 to Oleg at Pontefract (2m1f) last month. Didn't see things out there, and drop back in trip a positive move.

Won twice on easy turf at up to 2m last season, and gained his latest success over this trip at Sandown on his return from an 8-month absence last month. Should remain competitive, and shortlisted.

Successful on turf for the first time since May 2018 when keeping on strongly to beat Orin Swift by 3L at York (2m, soft) in October. Likely to come on from a pipe-opener at Thirsk a fortnight ago, and no forlorn hope if so.

Last seen running poorly in the mud over hurdles, but placed on all three flat starts in 2019 with ease underfoot. Absence a worry, but not badly treated if returning at the top of her game.

Went very close in a C&D handicap in September, and has run creditably on both starts since. Found 1½m a bit sharp at Pontefract last month, and return to this trip will suit her well.

Consistent from the front last year, winning a match for sole success, and gelded after final start. Looked better than ever when head second of 12 to Imperium at Lingfield on return, and respected if carrying on in similar vein.

Dual 1¼m winner on testing ground last spring, and better form in defeat subsequently. Well held on AW debut back from a break at Newcastle last month, but not too hard to forgive that effort.

Won in the mud over shorter here in the autumn, and highly tried on final 2019 start. Likely that she needed her reappearance at Kempton, and not ruled out returned to testing ground, and with this trip within her compass.

Landed 1m3f h'cap at Carlisle first time out last season, and again showed his ability to go well fresh when scoring over 1m3½f at Windsor last month. Handles testing ground, but record suggests he may be vulnerable.

Won twice at this trip in the mud last September, and better effort this term when fourth of 13 to Solo Saxophone over 2m here last month. Cheekpieces on now, and could get involved if they are of any benefit.

Beat Nuits St Georges in a 2m handicap here last year, and best effort when second in a heavy-ground handicap over this trip at Doncaster on final start. Very rusty on Newcastle return, and could leave that modest effort behind now.

Consistent over hurdles during his juvenile season, and a winner over this trip at Nottingham last summer. Ran poorly twice since, and not easy to fancy on return from absence here.

13:30 Haydock - 5 July 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Nuits St Georges was back in form when winning over this trip and Sandown, and he should be competitive, but it might be worth chancing CONTREBASSE, who beat that one here last season, handles the mud well, and will improve greatly from a low-key return at Newcastle. Theatro is unexposed, has course form, and will appreciate the return to this trip after finding 1½m too sharp at Pontefract on her return.

  2. Theatro
