Horse silk
80/1
Cost just £1,000 as a 4yo, fourth foal, dam bumper winner. 80-1 and well held on bumper debut at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) beaten 66L when finishing last of nine, can only be watched after that display.

The Greater Goodt1444
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: H Cobden| T: P F NichollsWS
5/2
Won by 25L on sole point-to-point start (Open Maiden (at Littlewindsor (20f, good) in April 2019. Joined top-class yard for bumper debut (has had wind op, tongue-tie worn), ought to play a part given yards record in this sphere.
3
Horse silk
7/2
Maiden in Irish point-to-points (had plenty of experience in that discipline); failed to complete on three occasions. First race under Rules for a yard that does well in bumpers although on point-to-point form looks a lesser light here.
4
Horse silk
Ardlairt1
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Johnson| T: T Lacey
11/1
Newcomer from a yard that have a near 25% strike-rate with bumper debutantes since 2015 (2-10 here). Half-brother to three winners, including fairly useful hurdler Isle of Ewe, dam 1m4f winner, tongue-tie on for debut, one to watch in the market.
5
Horse silk
10/1
Dylan Thomas gelding, newcomer, half-brother to useful hurdler Secrete Stream and winning chaser Goosen Maverick. Dam unraced half-sister to smart chaser Promalee, stayed 3m. Yard fairly modest record with debutants in bumpers.
6
Horse silk
7/1
Half-brother to two winners on the Flat, including useful 6f winner Belated Breath, dam 7f-1m2f winner. Newcomer, yard 8-62 with this type since 2015, would only be of interest if there were strong market vibes.
7
Horse silk
14/1
One of two runners from this yard (looks second string on jockey bookings). £18,000 3yo, resold £6,000 3yo, half-brother to useful 1m2f-1m4f winner Dramatic Device, dam winner at up to 1m4f, interesting to see how he moves in market with stablemate.

Rocky Sea
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: J M Quinlan| T: D P Quinn
80/1
Yard 0-6 with bumper newcomers since 2015; half-brother to two winners on the Flat, dam, lightly raced on Flat in France, half-sister to useful hurdler Rock The Race. Would be a surprise winner first time out, watching brief advised.
9
Horse silk
Snafee Tiger
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: B S Hughes| T: K Frost
40/1
Yard just 1-12 since 2015 in bumpers (0-4 with newcomers), could be significant that Brian Hughes takes the ride (won on yard's previous bumper winner). 5,000gns 3yo, dam maiden on Flat, any market support would be significant.

Horse silk
Sol De Mayo156
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Reed(3)| T: T Davidson| BF
7/1
Most experienced under Rules in this field, disappointed at Kelso (16.2f, heavy) when last seen failing to build on debut promise, Far too keen (carried head awkwardly), hard to write off but does need to bounce back to get involved.
11
Horse silk
66/1
Stoutly bred sort by Midnight Legend, dam 2m6f-3m hurdles winner, beaten 13L when eighth of 11 on debut at Newcastle on AW in January. Ran very green on that occasion, looks one for the longer-term given his debut.
12
Horse silk
7/1
The only mare in the field but from a top-class yard with fair record with newcomers (only 1-16 here since 2015). Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/fairly useful chaser Kilfenora, has to be respected on debut.

Forecasts

The Greater Good (5/2), Ultimate Getaway (7/2), Le Boulevardier (7/1), Sol De Mayo (7/1), Ballydun Glory (7/1), Donnie Azoff (10/1), Ardlair (11/1), Lunar Sovereign (14/1), Snafee Tiger (40/1), Ten Past Midnight (66/1), Rocky Sea (80/1), Beforeypushdachair (80/1)

13:10 Southwell - 1 July 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

With nine newcomers going to post there isn’t much to go here in form terms but THE GREATER GOOD was an impressive 25-length winner on his only start in point-to-points and he’s joined a good yard who have plenty of success in this sphere. Ardlair from another yard that should also be respected with their bumper runners especially their debutants looks a danger. Fergal O’Brien has been known to strike with newcomers here before (4-12 since 2015) so his duo of Ultimate Getaway and Lunar Sovereign should be taken seriously while the booking of Brian Hughes for Snafee Tiger catches the eye. Sol De Mayo the best of those to have run before but does have to bounce back from a below-par effort.
  1. The Greater Good
  2. Ardlair
  3. Snafee Tiger
