Likely pace-setter, showed his handicap credentials (won three times last year) at up to 2m, struggled to cope with marks in mid/high 80's after last win. 1-8 on AW (debut here), reappearance would suggest he needs to progress again off this mark.

Four-time course winner at 12.5f, comes here having completed a hat-trick back on turf last time at Pontefract (1m2f, good), completing a cleans sweep of races in 2020. Placed at 2m never won over further than 1m5f, career-high mark to deal with.

Lightly-raced on turf, took advantage of a reduced mark to win at Sandown (1m6f, good) off a break (underlining good form of yard). Had seemed better on AW prior to that win (4-14 on synthetics), never run here, still on a good mark, stays 2m.

Three-time turf winner at up to 1m6f, AW runs have all come here (024). Not seen since 2018, last run (below-par) came behind last year's winner of this Carnwennan, cheekpieces on for reappearance, needs a little more help from the handicapper.

Runner-up in both starts here (one over this trip), dual AW winner. Made a promising return from an initial early-year hurdles debut to finish third to a couple of promising young stayers recently (one, Australis runs in Plate), looks on good mark.

Proved reliable throughout much of 2019 in staying handicaps, Haydock (16.2f, good) win in August proving the highlight. Ran consistently after that (unfortunate not to have won more), no great record fresh though, stable below-par of late.

Initial and only win so far came when with Mark Johnston at Musselburgh (12.5f, good), now back in GB after a winless Irish sojourn. Shaped as if better for the run last time at Thirsk (1m4f, good), well behind Solo Saxophone (winner again since).

16:10 Newcastle - 27 June 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The smallest field in the short history of this event with the favourite having won three of the four renewals. The market leader on this occasion is likely to be AUTHOR’S DREAM who bids to follow-up his 33-1 Sandown success returned to the AW, his stable are in fine form at the moment. Al Kout deserves to win a race such as this and he looks to be one of the main dangers especially if one of his conquerors from Wolverhampton last time (Australis) has run well in the Plate 35 minutes earlier. Glan Y Gors knows his way around here but his mark now looks a stiff one especially over this trip. Similarly Mondain (may get a soft lead) could do with some help from the handicapper.
