9/1
Nicely bred filly who didn't achieve what the market suggested she might on debut last year, but improved significantly second time to go close at Haydock (7f, good to firm). Initial mark looks fair and she should be thereabouts.

Showed some promise in France, where she won over 1m½f (soft) as a juvenile. Changed hands for £95,000 at the breeze-ups in April. In good hands and no surprise if she is very competitive on her stable debut.

Improved on his Newcastle debut (7f) to win when stepped up to a mile on the Fibresand at Southwell in March. Disputed the lead on handicap debut back at Newcastle last time, but finished last there. Bit to prove from same mark.

Six-race maiden who has gone close on her last two starts, including over C&D (good) on her recent return from a break. However, handicapper didn't miss that (up 6lb), so more needed if she is to get off the mark.

Came good at the fourth attempt last year, winning on his nursery debut at Carlisle (7f, good to firm), when 2lb lower. Subsequently placed at Nottingham from this mark, and entitled to enter calculations after a recent run.

Was behind Alix James when that reopposing rival won at Musselburgh last October. That was a disappointment, after he had gone close at Thirsk (7f, good) prior to that. Returns gelded and big player if he can bounce back.

Went close on his second start at Leicester (7f, good) last August, but has apparently gone backwards since. Gelded and has left Sylvester Kirk since then. Not badly treated on stable debut, so keep an eye on the market.

Eight-race maiden who was back in a bit better form on her first run for this trainer, when a close third at Chelmsford (7f) earlier in the month. Up 1lb for that, but has to be much respected.

Forecasts

Velma (3/1), Le Chiffre (4/1), Falconidae (5/1), Shoot To Win (11/2), Ralphy Boy Two (6/1), Alix James (7/1), Perfect Rose (9/1), Jam And Mam (12/1), Rocket Dancer (25/1), Evora Knights (25/1)

14:15 Beverley - 23 June 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Falconidae could be popular after going close when upped to 7f last time, but she is up 1lb and still has a bit to prove, and preference is for PERFECT ROSE, who can improve sufficiently to take advantage of this initial handicap mark. Velma, Jam And Mam and Alix James could all be in contention, while Le Chiffre can't be ruled out.
  1. Perfect Rose
  2. Falconidae
  3. Velma
