Bonne Vitesse9

200/1
The only twice-raced filly in the field having put her experience to good use at Pontefract (6f, good) after debuting 8 days earlier over 5f on the AW. Raced against several that were very inexperienced will find this a very different experience.

Beaten ¾L on debut by Setarhe at Newmarket (6f, good/firm) having had the run of the race but still showing plenty of ability (looked professional). Entitled to progress, will have work to do to turn around the form with her conqueror from last time.

Dandalla17

Made a winning debut, looked potentially useful in doing so (Bonne Vitesse well behind) over 5f at Newcastle. Raced with a great deal of exuberance up with the pace (won 2L), certainly open to more progress stepping up to 6f, needs to settle better.

US raider, retains the blinkers she wore when making a winning debut at Gulfstream over 5f on dirt (raced moved off the turf). Made all to win by 5½L, soon clear, yard no stranger to success here, respected but may struggle from a low draw.

Made a winning start to her career at Wolverhampton (6.1f, slow) showing a good attitude to fight off the favourite (won by a short-head). Open to further progress but likely to need a fairly big step forward to take a hand in this tougher heat.

Off to a successful start at Haydock (6f, good) despite looking green when asked to go and win her race having travelled well throughout. Closely-related to some smart sorts and bound to improve, does have an awkward low draw to cope with.

Mahale15
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Oisin Murphy| T: M R Channon
14/1
Half-sister to smart winner at up to 1m1f (Opal Tiara); showed plenty to work on when taking a respectable fourth on debut at Newmarket (5f, good/firm). Kept on well under some fairly tender handling, will be suited by 6f, progress on the cards.

Mariance13
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Rob Hornby| T: J G Portman
66/1
Fourth to Undertake on debut (beaten 2L) over 6f at Lingfield on the AW she makes the switch to turf with more to give. Her half-brother Kapono won second-time out, tough task to emulate him but looks to have plenty more to give in an easier grade.

10/3
Only made her debut a week ago shaping very well at Navan (5.8f, good/firm) to finish second over a trip that looked well short of what will prove an optimum. Finished well without the rider being harsh, likely to be a strong contender at this level.

Setarhe15
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: R Varian| D
11/4
Made a fine start to her career overcoming unfavourable circumstances (missed break, made up ground/raced on worst part of track). Strong in the market, won readily, sure to do better, bred to stay 7f+, seems sure to do better, sound chance.

Undertake13
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: David Egan| T: R Varian| D
20/1
Gives her trainer a strong hand (also has Setarhe in race), became their second 2yo winner of the year at Lingfield (6f, slow). Stayed on well to lead close home (Mariance fourth), better to come; nicely drawn for this rise in grade/switch to turf.

Valpolicella15
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Rossa Ryan| T: P & O Cole| D
25/1
Took a Newmarket maiden on debut (6f, good/firm), form may not be the strongest as the principals all finished in something of a heap. 20-1 on debut so caused something of a surprise, well drawn, needs to find more to get involved up in grade.

Horse silk
10/1
Made a promising start to her career (knew her job, travelled well) but couldn't make a winning debut (lost out by a short-head) over 6f at Yarmouth (quick ground). Race looked a good heat (top stables represented), will progress, draw could hinder.

13:50 Royal Ascot - 19 June 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A good contest with eight last time out winners many of whom showed plenty of promise of more in the future. However, quite a few will have had a rushed preparation so care should be taken. The Roger Varian pair SETARHE and Undertake give him a strong hand with the former doing well to overcome unfavourable circumstances to score on her Newmarket debut looking to be his main contender (he’s won the race twice in the last six years). American raider Flying Aletha has longer than most to prepare for this and her Gulfstream win puts her in the mix along with Mother Earth who will appreciate this stiff 6f test. Of those at bigger prices Dandalla and Mariance could well outrun their odds.
  1. Setarhe
  2. Mother Earth
  3. Dandalla
