Showed his best form when scoring at Wolverhampton (5f), beat some in-form players. Continued in good heart after that in better company (failed to see things out in a decent race last time); travels well, yet to win off a mark this high.

Three-time Southwell winner (appears well suited by that surface), back to form there last time scoring off a 3lb lower mark. Does have one piece of turf form early last year; off a career-high mark, should remain competitive over this minimum trip.

Out of sorts for Tom Dascombe last year after a wind op in three starts all over longer trips and debuts for a new yard (first try at 5f). Won twice as a 2yo once here over 6f, off a reduced mark, could be rejuvenated by yard switch, note in market.

Had a fruitful time as a juvenile winning three times over 5f including an all-the-way success at Chester (repeated that win as a 3yo). Mixed bag since that early 2019 win but this rider/trainer combination are always to be respected here.

Five-time winner in 2018 including a handicap four-times (started that run from a lowly mark). Failed to win last year but shaped as though he was still capable off this sort of mark on a few occasions; not written off but may just need this run.

Found out by the attempt at Listed company when last seen (ran as well as could be expected) having won four handicaps last year at 5f. Should be at home returned to this grade for her reappearance although she might just need this run.

Yard's sprinters are going well (last three runners 213); this one scored off a break (10 weeks) at Chelmsford (made all). Far from disgraced when last seen in better company (again tried to make all); dangerous if allowed to dominate here.

Yard well known for their sprinters (had a 40-1 winner here yesterday); useful sprinter although he never really went on last year after winning at Sandown fresh off a wind op. Nicely handicapped on the pick of his form if the break has refreshed.

Naas maiden 6f winner for Aidan O'Brien as a 2yo (tried in Group company). Record since then has proved very uneven; shaped well enough on Fibresand/stable debut; this run should reveal more about his prospects, market to provide a guide.

Improved at a rapid rate last year wining four times including twice over C&D although both those wins came on better ground. Below form when last seen at Ascot, softer conditions may not have suited ideally, that factor slightly tempers enthusiasm today.

Thriving on the Newcastle Tapeta earlier in the year winning 5f handicaps on three occasions. Struggled back at that venue on the day racing resumed over 6f (trip tests him); handicapper may have caught up with him for now, others appeal more.

C&D winner; well backed Ayr winner in small field in July off this mark (all wins have come in single-figure fields). Ended the season out of sorts including when tried over 6f, faces a competitive return and others mount a more persuasive argument.

Forecasts

Celsius (10/3), She Can Boogie (9/2), Jonah Jones (13/2), Jumira Bridge (7/1), Astro Jakk (8/1), Acclaim The Nation (10/1), The Daley Express (12/1), Eeh Bah Gum (18/1), Dandy's Beano (18/1), Tathmeen (25/1), Harome (25/1), North Wind (33/1)

14:45 Haydock - 9 June 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

An ultra-competitive spri8nt with a maximum field allowed at the current time. Astro Jakk has to be considered having won two of his last three but the question is how will he fare away from his beloved Fibresand with very little turf form on his CV. Dual C&D winner Celsius might prefer a better surface for his return while Dandy’s Beano returns to a more suitable level having been upped into Listed company last time although she was far from disgraced. ACCLAIM THE NATION wasn’t beaten far last time and with the Eric Alston sprinters going well he’s taken to win this from the front. Jumira Bridge looks on a good mark and any strong market vibes for course winner Jonah Jones should be noted.
  1. Acclaim The Nation
  2. Astro Jakk
  3. Dandy's Beano
