Has shown promise on both starts, despite being a beaten favourite when last seen at Kempton in October. Step up to 1m2f looks positive. Open to improvement and begins in handicaps off what looks a workable mark.

Best of four runs last year was his third at Chelmsford (1m, AW) in November, when 1½L third at 66-1. Well held next time. Since gelded and returns with 2lb drop for handicap debut, with greater possibilities over this longer trip. Interesting.

Showed some ability in defeat last season, producing marginally his best effort when 1½L third of 13 on his final start at Bath (1m, good to soft) in September. Since gelded and drops 2lb for reappearance/handicap debut. Not ruled out.

Steady improver over several starts last season at 7f-7½f, being placed in all his first four races, where he just couldn't find any extra close home. Gelded since last seen. Stable in good form, and no surprise to see improvement up in trip.

Shaped nicely enough in three AW starts during the winter, without threatening to win. From a good family, and likely to have races in him, especially now switching to turf and up to middle distances. Market check advised.

Made a promising debut when 5L second of 13 at Chelmsford (1m, AW) in January, though not as good on only other run at Kempton later that month. Step up in trip worth a try on that evidence, and not badly treated on handicap debut.

Best of three starts so far was his debut at York (7f, good to firm) last August, but not as good in two AW runs since. Will need to have improved significantly on what we have seen to score from this initial mark.

Last of six here (1m, soft) on debut last September, but improved significantly on that in another fillies' novice event at Newcastle (7f, soft) in November. Step up in trip positive, and open to improvement from a workable mark. Interesting.

1-10 so far, having scored at Musselburgh (7f, good to firm) last August, when 7lb lower. Beaten just 1L from 1lb lower at Redcar after that. Has it to prove over this far and looks vulnerable to several less exposed opponents.

Steady improver in three runs last autumn, his best effort being his most recent run at Nottingham (1m½f, heavy) in November. Since gelded, but returns from a stiff enough mark, even allowing for improvement now up in trip.

16:25 Haydock - 8 June 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

An interesting and very likely informative contest, with plenty of unexposed runners. The market should be helpful and the suggestion is AQUILEO. Roger Varian's colt shaped as though he would win races in time when showing promise last year. His initial mark looks feasible and he can score now upped in trip. The list of potential dangers is not a short one, with the Mark Johnston pair Provocation and Lord Of The Alps among them, Vulcan another of interest, while Win O'Clock and Dusty Dream are others for whom cases can be made.
