Bought for €35,000 as a yearling. From a speedy family (granddam won the King's Stand) and, on his debut, others make more appeal

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: G F Carroll| T: M Mulvany| OR:  75
25/1
Showed some ability on debut but, after two bits of poor form on testing ground again, his big improvement when 33-1 second in 1m handicap at Dundalk 10 days ago came on AW. Player on that but today's conditions are a worry.

Horse silk
100/1
€15,000 buy as a foal. Second foal of an unraced dam, who's out of a half-sister to 5f Group 1 winner Total Gallery. Not the most striking on paper, although he's entered in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

Made 3,000 gns as a foal. Best of the dam's several winners is the useful Doughnut (5f-6f); dam fair 7f two-year-old winner. Late foal. Others seem more likely at this stage.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: O J Orr| T: D K Weld
11/2
Late foal whose 1m4f Group 3-winning dam is out of once-raced half-sister to Gold Cup winners Enzeli and Estimate. Close fourth of 17 when 16-1 for C&D maiden (heavy) in November puts him very high up the list. Irish Guineas and Irish Derby entry.

First foal of a modest maiden. Dam placed (6f), closely related to US Graded stakes-placed 1m winner Jeremy's Legacy out of half-sister to US 1m1f stakes winner Tamweel. Best watched on debut.

Mastercraftsman colt from the family of very smart performers Silca's Sister and Golden Silca. Catches the eye with his 280,000 gns purchase price as a yearling. Trainer also sends out Lobo Rojo.

One half-brother and their dam were fair 1m2f winners, from family of top-class 7f-1m2f performer Starcraft. Late foal. From major stable and he needs a market check.

11/2
Half-brother to fair 7f winner Suaimhneach and dam is a placed sister to 1m two-year-old Group 1 winner Loch Garman. Same connections send out Fraterculus but this one looks their first string on jockey bookings. Irish Guineas entry.

45,000 gns purchase as a yearling. Plenty to like in the pedigree, including with smart Ligne D'Or (1m2f-1m4f winner) as a half-brother. Jessica Harrington also runs Irish Master, so there should be market clues.

Lough Cutra153
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: C T Keane| T: G M Lyons
3/1
Dam half-sister to Racing Post Trophy and St Leger winner Brian Boru. Second favourite for 14-runner maiden at the Curragh (7f, soft) in October and lost out only to a Boger-trained 33-1 shot. Has potential and among the best form.

Overload
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: G P Halpin| T: L Comer
100/1
Made €1,000 as a yearling. First foal of unraced half-sister to 2m hurdle winner The Raven Master. Others make more appeal on paper.

Brother to a fair 1m winner, out of an Australian Group 1 winner. Sole start as two-year-old was in July but that strong-finishing third of 12 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, good) looked very promising. Entered in Irish Guineas and Derby.

€4,500 yearling. Fourth foal. Half-brother to fairly useful pair Canford Art and Cliffs Art, out of German 6½f Listed winner. Late foal, probably one for another day.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: B M Coen(3)| T: D K Weld

Well related. Fourth of ten in maiden at Gowran (1m, yielding to soft) last August showed ability but not as much stablemate Emiyn in his sole start as two-year-old. Probably the Weld second string.

Horse silk
Karrakatta
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: W J Lee| T: C O'Brien

From family of Darshaan, with useful winners close up in the family. Probably one for further but, with powerful owners, she is worth a market check.

Late foal and others are more eyecatching on pedigree (First Reserve).

Emiyn for Dermot Weld and Lough Cutra for Ger Lyons showed plenty of promise when taking minor honours in the autumn on their sole appearance last term. They are well bred too. However, a chance is taken that RUSSIAN EMPEROR can overcome the longer absence since his only run as a two-year-old, such was the promise demonstrated by Aidan O’Brien’s charge that day, although he was also reportedly struck into. Several newcomers to note include Legal Reform for Jim Bolger.
  1. Russian Emperor
  2. Emiyn
  3. Lough Cutra
