14/1
Off the mark at the fifth attempt when justifying odds on favouritism at Kempton and finished his race off well in a five-runner contest at Lingfield last time. Shaped like a step up in trip was in order that day and should improve but will need to.

20/1
Made it two wins from three starts in novice company over C&D back in August but has struggled in two subsequent turf events in Group 3/Listed company; return to AW could suit but needs to improve; wears first-time hood.

Got his head back in front in first-time cheekpieces (retained) at Kempton last time and gave the impression he could improve over this longer trip but has plenty more on his plate this time and others make more appeal.

7/2
Italian Group 3 winner who shaped with some promise in a York Group 2 at the Ebor meeting; form of that race has worked out well and it might be worth forgiving his latest start at Newbury; drops in class and has achieved more than most; up in trip.

Won three times as a juvenile but very disappointing on his return at Newcastle last week; needs to improve and hasn't been at his best on previous tries at this distance.

Didn't need to improve to win a novice event at Kempton on his third start but failed to justify favouritism in his follow up bid at Wolverhampton in December; step back up in trip should suit but has a bit to find on form.

Sun Power175
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: S De Sousa| T: R Hannon| OR:  101| BF
6/1
Won a novice event at Wolverhampton prior to some promising efforts when stepped up in class to Listed level; often fails to settle in his race though, as seen in a Kempton Group 3 in September and opposable on return from an absence here.

The Perfect Crown100
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Hollie Doyle| T: A Watson| D

Could hardly have been more impressive when bolting up at Chelmford on his debut over this trip. Will need more against these rivals but rates as an exciting prospect and every chance he will improve from that run.

Melodic Charm175
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: P J McDonald| T: J Tate| OR:  90
12/1
Landed a novice event at Wolverhampton on her debut and better than the bare result in a Group 3 at Kempton when last seen; ought to improve but widest draw hardly ideal.

Forecasts

The Perfect Crown (7/4), Malotru (7/2), Raaeb (9/2), Sun Power (6/1), Melodic Charm (12/1), Oh Purple Reign (12/1), Amarillo Star (14/1), Kondratiev Wave (20/1), Hector Loza (20/1)

15:10 Lingfield - 29 February 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

MALOTRU could be the one to take a chance on in a wide open Listed event having shown enough in Group 2 company to think he can mix it at this level. The Perfect Crown is hard to assess after just one run but he couldn't have won much easier on debut and rates as the main danger to the selection. Raaeb is another to consider and he's one of several who will appreciate a step up to seven furlongs.
