15/8
Smart staying hurdler; made all to win two graded hurdles this term, the Grade 1 Long Walk being his latest success (looked a weak renewal). Concedes 6lb to the field but goes well in the mud; will prove hard to beat eased in grade from last time.

Useful staying type who generally comes up short when tried at this level and that's expected to be the case again. Twice in the frame in handicaps recently but hasn't won since 2018, a dual course winner (will handle conditions); place prospects.

Surprise winner of this in 2018 when beating an odds-on favourite but hasn't been seen much since. Only subsequent win coming in a Kelso novice chase; not seen since a laboured effort in this race last year; hard to recommend at this level.

Emitom45
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: G Sheehan| T: W Greatrex| OR:  147
7/4
Successful on his first five starts recording a hurdles hat-trick before losing his unbeaten record in an Aintree Grade 2 (acquitted himself well). Rusty and disappointing on his return in another Grade 2; expected to come on for that, main danger.

One Night In Milan45
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Craig Nichol| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  142
12/1
Improving handicapper in2018/19 hitting a purple patch in that time and winning four out of his five completed starts. Still progressing despite not winning turning in some sound handicap displays; this is a big rise in grade.

West Approach50
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-2| J: R M Power| T: C L Tizzard| OR:  150
11/2
Enigmatic but smart chaser when he's in the mood although that wasn't last time when ridden by Tom Scudamore (goes well for Robbie Power) in Welsh Grand National. Has some useful form over hurdles but just one win; care needed given his temperament.

Forecasts

Emitom (7/4), The Worlds End (15/8), West Approach (11/2), Clyne (6/1), One Night In Milan (12/1), Donna's Diamond (28/1)

14:05 Haydock - 15 February 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Course winner The Worlds End will deserve his place at the head of the market having won twice already this year in graded company turning in game performances each time. However this race has proved a graveyard for favourites with none successful since 2009 (Kasbah Bliss) and it may pay to look elsewhere. EMITOM deserves another chance at this level after disappointing at Cheltenham last time, he’s better than that and he’s got a good chance of lowering the favourites colours. West Approach will need the kid gloves treatment but he’s useful on his day although his overall record sounds a note of caution. Clyne deserves a mention this dual course winner the type to run into a place.
