Shed maiden tag at the 14th attempt when off the mark at Newcastle (7f; standard) in comfortable enough style. One of very few in this contest to actually have winning form to his name, and it would be no surprise to see him go close again.

Justified favouritism over 1m at this track on sole visit to the shores on his penultimate start. However, he was in nowhere near the same form when down the field at Dundalk most recently. Return to this track a positive but he has enough to prove.

Made a likeable handicap debut at Lingfield (1m; standard) when a close-up third. Only been raised 1lb for that, and he is high on the shortlist as he drops back slightly in trip.

Fared much more competitively since switched to this sphere, finishing close to the leaders on each occasion. Step back up to 6f will pose no problems, and he is one of the more interesting contenders.

Bits and pieces of form to his name which would entitle him to feature, including his most recent effort when a narrow fourth at Newcastle (6f; standard). That was a hotter contest on paper than this, and if in similar form he should be bang there.

Lightly raced but the switch to the AW needs to bring about masses of improvement. Has a pair of duck eggs beside his name since switched to handicaps. Difficult to find anything positive about him. Mammoth task on his hands.

It would be a surprise to see him feature in any capacity given how poorly he has been running of late. Shown no improvement in four starts for the switch to handicaps, and the yard are 0-11 in the past 87 days.

Doesn't possess any substantial form which would entitle him to have claims in this contest. Could maybe do with a short break/change of scenery as he had a lot of racing recently. 0-16 overall, and is vulnerable to less exposed sorts.

Almost broke his maiden duck two starts ago, and was subsequently well-fancied (11-4jf) last time out. However, he was described as "never dangerous" when only sixth at Lingfield (1m; standard). Something to prove after that.

Posted a clear career-best effort when third over 1m at this track last month. Solid claims if able to build on that effort, but the form took a knock when the winner (Pink Jazz) was never involved next time out.

Still chasing a first career success after ten starts. Easy to rule out after recently failing to back up what was a step in the right direction at Kempton (6f; standard to slow) on his penultimate start.

Forecasts

Red Jasper (11/4), Seventeen O Four (11/2), Limaro Prospect (6/1), Pink Jazz (13/2), Boy George (15/2), Redzone (11/1), Cappella Fella (12/1), Inductive (20/1), Star Of St Louis (20/1), Fact Or Fable (28/1), Van Dijk (50/1)

19:40 Wolverhampton - 5 February 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Both Capella Fella and Redzone recently posted efforts which suggested their turn wouldn't be far away, and therefore have place claims. It is a matter of time before the lightly raced Seventeen O Four gets his career off the ground after posting a much improved effort on handicap debut. Also in the mix is Red Jasper who finally recorded his first career success last week. However, given the promise he has shown in two starts since switched to this sphere, the selection is LIMARO PROSPECT who hasn't been close up in defeat the last twice. Off an unchanged mark, and with the step back up in trip in his favour, he can get off the mark at the sixth attempt.
  1. Limaro Prospect
  2. Red Jasper
  3. Seventeen O Four
