Lightly raced over jumps, and off the mark in a handicap chase at Bangor in April. Jumped right and shaped as if needing the run on return at Ffos Las, and entitled to do better going this way round.
Struggling for form at present, failing to complete four times in a row before finishing tailed off at Fakenham last time. Falling sharply in the weights, but makes little appeal on recent efforts.
Made a winning return in a 2m5f handicap chase at Hereford in November, and has run creditably on both starts off higher marks since. Beginning to ease in the weights again, and merits respect here.
Fell on return/chase debut, and ran poorly next time, but really clicked when getting up late to win a 2m5f handiicap chase here last month. Longer trip will suit, and he has leading claims if backing that effort up.
Beaten 20L when runner-up at Uttoxeter in December, and probably better judged on latest fourth of 9 to Cap du Nord at Fakenham. Needs to step up again to take this, but not ruled out.
Runner-up up off a much higher mark at Kempton in March, but he's inconsistent these days, and has been beaten a longish way in two completed starts this season.
Stays well, but hasn't been in much form for some time, and has produced only one creditable performance since winning at Towcester in March 2018.
Forecasts
Balgemmois (2/1), Cougar's Gold (7/2), Cuban Pete (7/2), Smuggler's Blues (4/1), Ultimatum Du Roy (10/1), Holbrook Park (16/1), Dontminddboys (33/1)
Cuban Pete and BALGEMMOIS have the best recent form, with the latter a winner over shorter here last time. He will appreciate the stiffer test afforded by this trip, so gets the verdict, while top-weight Smuggler's Blues is better than he showed on his return, and should appreciate the right-handed track having jumped that way at Ffos Las.
