20/1
Seventh foal; half-brother to the bumper/2m chase winner Ouro Branco; absent since finishing fourth of 11 (beaten 18L) to Lossiemouth in a 1m6½f (soft) junior bumper at Newcastle 380 days ago; wears a newly applied hood.

€25,000 foal (€90,000 3yo); second foal; half-brother to last week's 2m4f hurdle winner Marown; Nicky Richards took this race last year with none other than the hugely exciting Ribble Valley; one for the shortlist.

Horse silk
12/1
Placed in a Portrush point (for Liam Kenny) in March 2019; sold a couple of months later for £17,000; 14-1 when seventh of 14 (beaten 22L) to Aire Valley Lad in a Newcastle bumper (2m, soft) 25 days ago.

16/1
Stowaway gelding; third foal from an unraced sister to the bumper/2m6f hurdle winner Our Joey; trainer Gordon Elliott is also responsible for the Richard Johnson-ridden Get Rich Die Plyin.
5
Horse silk
5/4
With Denis Paul Murphy when beaten 1½L by Ocean Drifter in a 3m 4yo maiden at Lingstown (yielding to soft) in November; has since joined the doubly represented County Meath handler Gordon Elliott; is closely related to The Dutchman.
First foal from a moderate dam who was a half-sister to the point winner Just Jane; low-key in that discipline himself so far (0-2); Irish handler Caroline Mccaldin is 1-23 (4%) with her GB runners; safer to look elsewhere.
Second foal from a French mare (Go Lison); 40-1 when a fast-finishing debut C&D second (kept on strongly) to She's A Rocco; arguably that wasn't the strongest of bumpers but a very pleasing start nevertheless; receives the 7lb mares allowance.

Forecasts

Get Rich Die Plyin (5/4), Castle Rushen (15/8), Charm Offensive (15/2), Deluxe Range (12/1), Democratic Oath (16/1), Aquitaine Boy (20/1), Mountains Con (80/1)

15:45 Ayr - 6 January 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The mare Charm Offensive made a pleasing start when exceeding market expectations (40-1) to finish a closing second over C&D in mid-November, while a strong market move for the well-related Get Rich Die Plyin would offer immense confidence for the once-raced (now Gordon Elliott trained) former pointer. However, with Nicky Richards responsible for a bumper winner at Musselburgh on Friday (Elios D'Or), and having sent out the hugely exciting Ribble Valley to take this contest 12 months ago, all eyes will undoubtedly be drawn to the Trevor Hemmings-owned newcomer CASTLE RUSHEN. At this stage of affairs (without the benefit of a formed market) he's the suggested advice.
  1. Castle Rushen
  2. Get Rich Die Plyin
  3. Charm Offensive
