7/2
C&D winner last time out resuming winning ways when strong in the market seeing his race out well despite looking a little quirky. Raised 4lb for that win he'll be up to a mark he's never won off, that may make him vulnerable.

First time on the Fibresand for this versatile sort whose most recent Flat run resulted in a fair second at Wolverhampton over this trip. Should be able to make his presence felt off this mark if he can handle this unique surface.

Three-time course winner with two coming over this trip his form here reads well although he ran no sort of race over 1m6f here last time. Never travelled last time, always behind; given time to recover from that blip, no surprise if he bounces back.

Dual C&D winner who has only finished out of the first two in seven visits here but is on a long losing run. Looks in good heart though (placed in her last three starts) and it may not be long before she breaks that losing sequence.

Made little impression on his first run for this yard having previously been with Amy Murphy. Had the headgear tried in his previous three starts removed last time with little effect; would need quite a few to falter to get involved.

Took relatively well to the surface when fourth here last time (Sea Of Mystery, fifth) but doesn't look any better than this these days. 10lb below his last winning mark he can't be totally written off in this company.

0-5 on Fibresand although he did record his best performance here last time out when third over C&D but that was only in selling company behind Sea Of Mystery. Travelled better than most he's capable of getting involved; cheekpieces back on.

Yet to run on Fibresand and by a sire (Beat All) who is 0-41 on this surface. Produced only modest form so far finishing last on his handicap debut when last seen; back from a break but makes very little appeal on what he's shown so far.

Forecasts

Bill Cody (5/2), Sea Of Mystery (7/2), Shine Baby Shine (4/1), Pumblechook (11/2), Master Burbidge (7/1), Thahab Ifraj (8/1), Panatos (25/1), Nineteenrbo'malley (66/1)

17:45 Southwell - 3 January 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The Mick Appleby yard are in good fettle at the moment and although it was only a selling handicap that Sea Of Mystery won last time over C&D with Panatos back in third he should still cope with this rise in grade and make a bold bid to follow up. Master Burbidge made an encouraging return to the Flat last time but doesn’t have any experience on this surface. One who does is SHINE BABY SHINE who might just end her losing run having always run well on this surface. Until his last run here Thahab Ifraj could always be relied on to give his running here but he could emerge as one of the dangers with Bill Cody unlikely to be far away.
  1. Shine Baby Shine
  2. Thahab Ifraj
  3. Master Burbidge
