6f Ripon handicap winner this summer having a second attempt now at this extra furlong. Has looked one paced closing stages of late so this longer trip may help the cause.

Popped up at 20/1 to land Catterick 7f maiden in June then failed narrowly in handicap at Redcar time after. Soon beaten latest start following previous disappointing runs and on balance others are preferred on current evidence.

Good 33/1 runner-up on second career start in Wolverhampton 7f in September. Wasn't disgraced last time when fourth here over 6f in handicap company and has been eased 2lb since.

Ten starts for Marco Botti yielded a 7f success at Wolverhampton in April in novice company but dropped 12lb over subsequent handicap starts. Makes debut for new yard having finished third last time on heavy ground at Yarmouth off 2lb higher mark.

Won three times last season, twice here over 6f. Stepped up to 7f last two starts after failing to trouble the judge this term and ran respectably when fifth at Wolverhampton latest. Not out of it on pick of previous efforts.

Built on solid second when scoring over C&D in October. Has run with credit here last two starts but appears to be just about in grip of the handicapper at present.

Yet to prove she stays beyond 6f having won at that trip at Nottingham in July. Mid-division finisher here over 5f last time and has work to do to get competitive at this trip.

Stayed on well to win over C&D on penultimate start making all the running. Failed to get to the front and appeared to sulk when last of 12 here last time on return visit. Chance if able to get out and dominate.

Won two of first four starts, including here over 6f. Failed by just a length to win a Wolverhampton 7f penultimate start then never got going when fifth there last time. May be better suited by this straight track and is not without a chance.

Dual Carlisle 6f handicap winner this July but generally found life much tougher since off higher marks. Beginning to come back to a feasible mark and ran well here last time over mile, only tiring late on. Drop back makes sense.

Four-time turf winner and had looked far less effective on AW prior to good effort last time when second over C&D off this mark. Nicely weighted on pick of turf form so is one to consider.

C&D winner over three years ago and only win since came over a mile at Carlisle in 2018. Badly out of form this year prior to signs of a revival when fourth here last time. Well weighted if able to build on that.

Really struggling this term and handicap mark has plummeted as a result of a series of poor efforts. Very hard to offer any real encouragement on balance of form this year.

Strugglng prior to finding form when third three starts back and has done well both starts since. Second at Southwell latest and has a shout off just 1lb higher this time if able to build on that.

Forecasts

Billy Wedge (1/1), Avenue Of Stars (9/2), The Retriever (9/2), With Approval (14/1), Bobby Joe Leg (14/1), Siena Mia (14/1), Pinarella (20/1), Lucky Violet (20/1), Tarnhelm (22/1), Strawberryandcream (25/1), Amood (33/1), Kodiac Lass (33/1), Amelia R (33/1), Darwina (50/1)

17:45 Newcastle - 9 December 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A trappy low-level event, but a chance for TARNHELM to strike for the first time at this trip having run well for a long way here over a mile last time. The fillies Siena Mia and Pinarella may both be capable of better than we've seen so far, while With Approval would be a player if able to get out front and dominate as he did when winning here two starts back. Of the others, Amood, Lucky Violet and Avenue Of Stars are not without hope either.
  1. Tarnhelm
  2. Amood
  3. With Approval
