£8,500 Mahler gelding makes his Rules debut for stable emerging now from a lean spell. No great shakes though between the flags so will do well to make his presence felt after 548-day absence.

1m4f Flat winner when trained by Ralph Beckett. Not disgraced last time on second start over timber when noted making some late headway. Not out of it although may do better once handicapped.

Hasn't shown a great deal in two bumpers and two hurdles so far and needs to start to get his act together. Likely to find this another tough assignment.

Yard has 14% strike rate here in hurdles. Easily won Plumpton bumper in the spring then absent until fourth on hurdles bow at Wincanton last month. May do better over further in time but should be wiser for that experience and worth considering.

Two wins on the Flat at up to 1m4f for Dean Ivory. Joined current yard in April and showed only modest form on Flat prior to hurdles bow here last time when distant fourth on heavy ground. Better surface may help but more needed.

Warwick bumper winner a year ago but has looked a tough ride in two starts this term over hurdles, pulling up at Wetherby in October after leading early, then weakening into fourth at Lingfield latest. Drop back in trip will help though.
Just three runs so far and second start wasn't without promise when distant third of 9 in Bangor maiden hurdle in October. Well beaten Wetherby last time but from top yard and too early to write him off.

Not disgraced in two bumper last term for Michael Scudamore and made good start for new yard when winning Chepstow bumper in April. Hurdles bow here for yard that hasn't got going yet this season but could well be in the mix.

Pasisng Lance gelding who has had trhee starts to date, the last two over timber. Hasn't made a great impression but is open to improvement although that may come once tackling handicap company.

Hasn't won since 2015 and is a maiden in 14 starts over hurdles showing poor form throughout the last three seasons. Impossible to fancy.

14-race maiden on Flat where appeared to struggle to stay a mile. Kept on though on hurdles bow over two miles at Huntingdon recently and interesting to see if he can build on the promise of that effort.

Won Group 3 Solario Stakes in 2016 and 102 rated handicapper in 2018 season for Andrew Balding. Joined current yard in January and finished last of 19 in Lincoln Handicap on only run this year. Very interesting and classy jumps recruit.

13:30 Southwell - 3 December 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Six of the last eight winners of this race have started at 5/2 or shorter so those toward the top of the market deserve very serious consideration. SOUTH SEAS was different class to these on the Flat but has been restricted to just one start in the last year. If he can jump and is fit and well, he may make a winning start to his new career on debut for a top jumps yard. Both First Lord De Cuet and One Touch have potential in this sphere, while the filly Overtrumped is worth noting for any market support. A similar comment applies to Wincanton bumper winner Hunting Percival.
