Only had the three starts under rules and two of those were over hurdles last season. Sent straight over fences on his return to action at Wexford (2m; soft to heavy) when never involved. Impossible to fancy on that evidence.
Held some eye-catching form in bumpers before winning stylishly on hurdles debut at Down Royal (2m; good to yielding) last October. Not seen since, so he must prove fitness on chase debut. Likely to prove the biggest danger to Carefully Selected.
Finished runner-up on both starts over fences this season, and ran the talented Champagne Classic close at Fairyhouse (2m5f; yielding to soft) most recently. Pair drew 36-length clear of the field, and he has place claims on that form.
High-class performer who finished third on only his second ever hurdles start in a Grade One at the Punchestown Festival (3m; yielding) behind Minella Indo & Allaho. Looks made for fences and can win this before going onto loftier targets.
134-rated hurdler who could never really get involved in some warm handicap hurdles last season. Likely to have a future over fences, but is up against some unexposed sorts here, and can only be advised for a place at best.
Tailed-off in hot beginners chases the last twice which were won by both Tornado Flyer and Faugheen. This contest is likely to be won by a similarly above-average sort. Watching brief advised until he drops down in class.
Competitive in low-grade handicaps last season. Could have jumped better on seasonal/chasing debut at Cork (2m5f; soft) over this trip when only sixth. This is a far hotter race, and so he can be ruled out with confidence.
Connections evidently wasting no time sending him over fences. Outclassed on seasonal return, and qualifies for a handicap mark after this. Of interest when moving into that sphere, but not one to fancy today.

0-10 and the switch to the handicap sphere is yet to work the oracle with him. Is now handed an impossible task on chasing debut. Subsequently opposed until returned to far weaker company.
Could never land a glove on the talented Éclair De Beaufeu when a distant second at Wexford (2m; soft to heavy) on chase debut. Did pull 16-length clear of the third. Lacks the star potential of some of his rivals though.

This is a competitive beginners chase to kick off this seven-race card. The likes of Mormon, Cartwright, Lord Schnitzel (who ran Carefully Selected close over hurdles last season) and Off You Go have futures in the chasing game, but that is likely to be in top-level handicaps. Ontheropes is a fascinating contender after he made a seamless transition to hurdles at Tramore. It speaks volumes that he is sent straight over fences. The same can be said for both Brace Yourself and CAREFULLY SELECTED though. The latter is preferred on this occasion as he has grade one form to his name and could take high-rank in the novice chase division this season.
