Failed to build on the promise that she had shown on her previous start when running below-par at Newcastle last time over 7f (may have been on the worst part of track. Eased 1lb she now makes her Fibresand debut with something to prove.

Lightly-raced sort who failed to show anything when making his nursery debut (7f, soft) last time going with little fluency in first-time blinkers. Hard to make a case for him on what he's shown so far; Fibresand debut.

Appreciated the strong pace on her handicap debut winning off a lowly mark over 7f on her second AW (Tapeta) start; showed improved form. Up 6lb making her Fibresand debut her wining form has to make her of interest.

Like most the majority of this field is still a maiden; starting to look exposed after seven starts with the last four coming in handicaps. Can only be described as modest makes his first Fibresand start; due to be dropped 2lb in the future.

Well held on his handicap debut last time in first-time cheekpieces finishing well behind Ventura Destiny at Newcastle (beaten 18.5L). New headgear combination now tried; steps on to Fibresand for the first time looking to reverse Newcastle form.

Ran to just a poor level over 5f last time having not raced at that trip since his debut in June. Appeared not to stay this trip when tried at the distance before; drops to a career-low mark but with little to recommend him even in this weak contest.

7/2
Hinted at ability in his three qualifying runs; well found in the market on his handicap debut stepping up to 7f for the first time (ran poorly). Showed some spark back on turf after that but reverted to being below-par last time; Fibresand debut.

Es Que Pearl98
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: P J McDonald| T: B R Millman| OR:  48
33/1
First time on the AW having run four times on turf showing very little that could be deemed as more than poor form on each occasion. Folded very tamely when last seen at Ffos Las over 6f; hard to make a case on the evidence so far.

The Works43
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: P Mulrennan| T: D Carroll| OR:  45
16/1
The switch to handicaps coupled with an increase in distance has failed to produce any improvement her last two starts on the AW being particularly poor. First start on Fibresand; overall looks a poor sort who is now exposed.

Forecasts

Ventura Destiny (3/1), Mr Kodi (3/1), Comvida (7/2), Jazz Style (13/2), Red Maharani (12/1), The Works (16/1), William Thomas (20/1), Hootenanny (25/1), Es Que Pearl (33/1)

16:40 Southwell - 7 November 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Solid form is at a premium in this low-grade opener to the card with none of these having yet experienced this unique surface. Plenty to be taken on trust therefore and a surprise result could be possible but VENTURA DESTINY has at least shown winning form and that might count for plenty if she handles the rise in the weights and the change of surface. Mr Kodi comes from a yard that have had some success here and he’s taken to be the danger along with Comvida who was tellingly a single-figure price on his nursery debut and may just be better than his mark.
  1. Ventura Destiny
  2. Mr Kodi
  3. Comvida
