Returns to hurdling here, where he was last seen winning at Bangor in August, from 11lb lower. Has since romped home in a heavy ground Perth chase (2m4f). Still well treated on these revised terms if transferring recent chase form back to hurdles.

Scored from today's mark at Catterick (3m1½f, soft) last December. Well below that level in three runs since, all in higher grade. Could do better now back at this level, but has a bit to prove dropping in trip.

Won a chase (2m4f, yielding) in Ireland last season, when with Noel Meade. Form tailed off and he changed hands for £20,000 in the spring, since when he has had a wind operation. Takes a leap of faith to side with him first time back after that.

Won a Hexham maiden hurdle (2m, good) in June, and matched that effort in a Sedgefield novices' hurdle (2m4f, soft) last time. Probably has more to come over this trip. Not ruled out of the frame, but initial mark looks on the stiff side.

Still early days over hurdles, and you couldn't write him off based on his 7L second here over 2m2f (good to soft) in novices' company in April. Not as good on his reappearance, but not ruled out on his handicap debut.

Scored here over 2m1f (good) in a novices' handicap chase last November, when 3lb higher. Entitled to consideration in the light of that, and can probably put a line through his reappearance, when heavy ground probably wasn't ideal.

Dual point winner who went off at 66-1 and was pulled up here (2m, soft) on his recent rules debut. This trip looks more like it, but can only watch this time.

0-14 under rules. Has slipped to a dangerous mark, especially with a 10lb claimer up, so don't be surprised if he is able to make much more of an impact.

Forecasts

Murphy's Law (5/4), Trapper Peak (7/4), Lord Roccoco (4/1), Put The Law On You (5/1), Get Help (13/2), Farocco (15/2), Tayzar (8/1), Too Many Chiefs (12/1), Getaway Kid (33/1), Tailspin (50/1)

17:15 Kelso - 26 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Some interesting angles into this one, with Murphy's Law arriving in excellent form from recent chase efforts. He undoubtedly has claims if able to transfer that back to hurdles from this mark. Tayzar wouldn't have had his ideal ground conditions when pulled up on his reappearance, and could do significantly better this time, He is not ruled out, along with Farocco, Get Help and Lord Roccoco. However TRAPPER PEAK has been winning his races over the smaller obstacles, and on the evidence of his most recent success, a 7lb rise not prevent him from doing so again.
  1. Trapper Peak
  2. Tayzar
  3. Murphy's Law
