Out the back on both starts so far (limitations fully exposed); impossible to fancy on that evidence; stablemate of Double D's.

Son of Lope De Vega (cost €700,000 as a juvenile); shaped encouragingly on debut at Yarmouth (1m, good to firm) when finishing fourth of seven to Ursa Major (a stablemate of Grand Bazaar); trainer known to saddle winners at this track.

Son of Lope De Vega (160,000gns yearling); has run to a similar level of form on both starts, including when finishing a couple of places behind today's rival Carlos Felix at Yarmouth (1m, good to firm); stablemate of Ziggle Pops.

Teofilo colt (57,000gns foal, 80,000gns vendor yearling); eighth foal; half-brother to four winners including the Group-placed I Love Me (7f); trainer is 8-35 (23%) with his juveniles at Gosforth Park (AW).

Showcasing colt (62,000gns yearling); raced keenly on debut at Ayr (1m, good) before backpedalling from the two furlong pole to finish last of 12 to Morisco.

25/1
First foal from the 5f-7f winner Skinny Love (inc AW); mildly interesting to see how he figures in the market for Karl Burke (9-75 (12%) with juveniles at Newcastle) although others are expected to prove stronger.

5/6
Golden Horn colt (210,000gns foal); turned over at short odds (4-6f) on debut at Haydock (1m, soft) seven weeks ago; could appreciate the switch to a sounder racing surface; John Gosden has a 53% juvenile strike-rate (18-34) on the AW at Newcastle.

Dubawi colt out of a half-sister to the talented hurdler Supasundae; second foal; half-brother to the 1m winner Moqtarreb; noteworthy at the very least on racecourse debut for the in-form Newmarket handler Roger Varian.

Casamento colt; second foal from a moderate dam (raced only as a juvenile); very surprising if he's primed to strike on debut; look elsewhere.

Shamardal colt; has shown little to get excited about on two starts to date (turf and Fibresand); clearly isn't among the high rank of juveniles in Middleham.

14:35 Newcastle - 22 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A potentially above average novice contest featuring a couple of previous winners (Amann and Ziggle Pops) as well as a number of interesting newcomers, most significantly Doubling Dice (Hugo Palmer) and Khaloosy (Roger Varian). Furthermore, with the Golden Horn colt Grand Bazaar representing John Gosden (has a 53% strike-rate with juveniles on Tapeta at Newcastle) this will almost certainly take some winning. In truth, this race appeals more as a watching brief for future as opposed to a betting medium, but it could be worth chancing the expensively acquired Lope De Vega colt CARLOS FELIX who travelled like a useful horse on debut at Yarmouth (1m).
  1. Carlos Felix
  2. Grand Bazaar
  3. Doubling Dice
