Broke the maiden tag in some style when absolutely hacking up over C&D 11 days ago (Rebel State second, Gunnison fourth); 6lb 'well-in' under a 6lb penalty (is due a 12lb rise); simply can't be opposed.

No worthwhile form since finishing 6½L fourth to Alfred Richardson over C&D last October; is undeniably well-handicapped (9lb below his last winning mark); that said, couldn't be recommended with any degree of confidence.

Winner of a 1m Gowran Park median auction maiden (1m, soft to heavy) for Joseph O'Brien in May 2018; generally regressive since joining the County Durham handler David Thompson (0-7).

Likes Lingfield; beaten ½L when runner-up at Chelmsford (7f, Class 6 handicap) in April; off the track for 164 days since finishing in the midfield rank over an extended mile at Wolverhampton in May; Rossa Ryan is a noteworthy booking.

Drawn on the right side of the track when clinging on for a narrow first success at Thirsk (1m, good) in August; shouldn't trouble the likely favourite Perfect Swiss or Rebel State on the strength of recent C&D evidence.

Blinkers rekindled a spark when finishing third to Sophia Maria over 7f here in August (on debut for Karen Tutty); couldn't build on that next time at Wolverhampton and it's back to the drawing board with that headgear now removed.

4lb higher than when winning at Hamilton (1m1f, good to firm) in May 2018 - off the track for 14 months thereafter; back in reasonable shape here in recent weeks, including when beaten a neck by Menin Gate (1m2f).

Maiden (0-10); has taken time to find his feet for this doubly-represented trainer since arriving from Richard Hannon for 9,000gns; 2lb lower than when finishing a keeping on fourth of 13 to Billy Wedge over C&D 11 days ago.

Beaten just over 1L when placed at Pontefract (1m, good) in August; modest since (0-3), including when found lacking in the stamina department over 1m2f here as a weakening eighth of 14 to Menin Gate (Troop second).

More miss than hit since joining this trainer after winning a January Lingfield claimer (6f) for Michael Wigham; continues to tumble in the weights - down a staggering 23lb since late January; no signs of an imminent revival.

Still seeking his first career success (0-15), but there have been some near misses over this C&D - beaten a neck from a 6lb higher mark in February; more appealing than the vast majority, therefore rates as a fair each-way selection.

Dual course winner (7f-1m); struck around this time last year when taking a Class 7 handicap by a nose; much less effective during the course of 2019, with his second-placed finish at Redcar in July coming in a 1m2f seller (beaten by 6L).

Formerly trained in Ireland by John Joseph Murphy; not overly encouraging in six starts (7f-1m2f) for the astute Cumbrian-based handler Tristan Davidson; now rated 10lb lower than when joining the yard; 0-4 on the AW.

No match for the ready 5L winner Perfect Swiss over C&D latest and it's very difficult to envisage that form line being reversed despite the improved terms; realistically is thought to be playing for a place at best.

17:35 Newcastle - 18 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

PERFECT SWISS hacked up over C&D recently and under a 6lb penalty (is due a 12lb rise) rates as nigh impossible to oppose. It's very difficult indeed to envisage a scenario where either Rebel State (second) or Gunnison (fourth) is able to reverse those placings. In terms of seeking a better priced each-way alternative, the C&D proven three-year-old Klipperty Klopp makes more appeal than the vast majority despite remaining a 15-race maiden. Of the remainder, Ann Duffield's Troop has more than held his own at a lowly level since returning from a 14-month absence earlier this calendar year.
