Won a Downpatrick beginners contest in impressive style when beating Sea Scorpion 6½L late last month. Looks to be an improving sort and merits plenty of respect.
Modest 107-rated handicap hurdler, fell on sole start over the larger obstacles when out of contention when tipping up at the last at Clonmel in February. Likely to find it tough going here.
Showed plenty of promise in a number of starts without getting his head in front over the summer. That form appears to be tailing a little based on a couple of recent starts at Sligo and Downpatrick. Makes little appeal in this heat.
Course winner that has also won over this trip. Rated 107 over hurdles the daughter of Royal Anthem landed a couple of handicaps in August. Market likely to reveal expectations on chasing introduction.
Nine-race maiden well held in eight dismal efforts over hurdles. Kept on one pace on return to action in a Roscommon handicap last month and best watched on chasing debut.
Built on a fair effort on chasing debut at Sligo last month when landing a Gowran Park 2m handicap hurdle on good ground earlier this month. Repeat of recent efforts should see her in the hunt for more prize money here.
Won a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in May but struggled subsequently in handicaps at Bellewstown and Killarney. Mid-division when falling at the first on chasing debut at Tipperary earlier this month. Others preferred.
Lightly raced in the last 12 months following a start each for trainers Iain Jardine and Ian Duncan. Well held in a couple of desperate efforts over the larger obstacles, both at Kilbeggan when last seen in August. Others make more appeal.
Finished over 6L adrift of the improving Mohart in a Downpatrick 2m2f beginners contest last month. Has more to offer and very much respected in this contest.
Course winner that has a win over this trip to her name. Shaped with plenty of promise in a couple of initial starts over the larger obstacles since July. Entitled to make the shortlist.
Hurdles winner at Limerick last term, but pulled up on his latest start at Tipperary, and has offered only a little promise in a couple of chase starts to date.
Forecasts
Ask Heather (9/4), Lucky Phil (7/2), Shimmer And Shine (9/2), Mohart (5/1), Josephina (12/1), Sea Scorpion (12/1), Dasmyhoss (12/1), Young Dev (16/1), Muyam Spirit (33/1), Our Lucas (33/1), La Regle (66/1)
The Tom Cooper-trained LUCKY PHIL can add to her impressive win at Gowran Park over timber earlier this month and her chasing debut at Sligo last month when finishing a promising fourth of 10 beaten 4L on good to yielding ground. The six-year-old can hold off the attentions of her biggest rival likely to be the Declan Queally-trained Ask Heather. Mohart and Sea Scorpion finished one/two in a 12-runner beginners contest at Downpatrick last month and can once again give good accounts of themselves.
