Horse silk
Lantiern11
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: D A Jacob| T: H Whittington| OR:  122| D
11/8
Workmanlike winner of a Southwell novice (1m7½f, soft) earlier this month; carries a penalty for that success, but ought to prove capable of figuring prominently in the finish with Daryl Jacob travelling north for the mount.

Horse silk
Floating Rock232
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: N de Boinville| T: T Lacey| D
13/8
German pedigree; made a winning start to his racing career when justifying favouritism with a narrow win in a Catterick bumper (1m7½f, good) in February; strength of market support a helpful guide to expectations on hurdles debut; every chance.
3
Horse silk
Get Help187
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sam Coltherd(3)| T: W Coltherd| OR:  115
13/2
Took a marked step forward on his third start under rules when finishing 7L second to Elvis Mail (2-9f) in a 2m2f Kelso novices' hurdle (good to soft); should win a race or two once sent handicapping.
4
Horse silk
Milvale169
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Henry Brooke| T: A M Thomson
12/1
Sold for £40,000 in May 2018 (Cheltenham) after finishing a head second to Robyndzone in a Ballindenisk point (for Stuart Crawford); runner-up in two of his three bumper starts (at Ayr); could fare better over hurdles; others preferred here.
5
Horse silk
40/1
Modest form in bumpers for James Bethell and truthfully hasn't done a great deal better over hurdles (0-2) for the triply-represented Lucinda Russell; far safer to look elsewhere.
Bought out of the Irish point-to-point scene for £50,000 (a 3m Ballinaboola winner); lost a hind shoe on hurdles debut at Perth (2m, heavy) last month - settled much better there than in his Kelso bumper; one of three for Lucinda Russell.
7
Horse silk
100/1
Well beaten on both starts in bumpers (Newcastle and Ayr); pulled up early (saddle slipped) on hurdles debut at Sedgefield (2m4f, soft) 11 days ago.
8
Horse silk
What's The Scoop184
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-12| J: Danny Cook| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  113
28/1
Left the care of Nicky Henderson (0-6) for £32,000 in May 2017; has only raced twice since for Sue Smith (spread over the course of 14 months); clearly has ability but also seemingly his fair share of issues.
Cost £20,000 in May 2019; beaten 23L (second of three) on debut for Lucinda Russell at Perth (2m4f novices', good to soft); beaten further still there next time, so is difficult to enthuse over; one of three for her trainer.

Horse silk
Miah Grace180
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-5| J: Joe Colliver| T: Jedd O'Keeffe
15/2
From a reasonably useful dam (bumper/2m-2m2f hurdles winner); placed in both starts in bumpers, including when outpaced and finishing 12L third to Shanroe here in April (good); each-way shout on hurdles debut.
11
Horse silk
66/1
Fell at the first on her hurdles debut (Kelso); beaten 19L when finishing third (100-1) to Dolly's Destination in a mares' novices' hurdle over C&D in May; this is a much more taxing assignment; very unlikely.

Forecasts

Lantiern (11/8), Floating Rock (13/8), Get Help (13/2), Miah Grace (15/2), Milvale (12/1), What's The Scoop (28/1), Mon Ami Bob (40/1), Fyfin Patsy (50/1), Rapid Raider (50/1), Western Supernova (66/1), Reign Back Dancer (100/1)

15:40 Hexham - 12 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Harry Whittington took this race last year with Simply The Betts and he relies upon the recent workmanlike Southwell winner Lantiern this time around. While it's notable that Daryl Jacob has travelled north for the ride, similar comments also apply to Nico De Boinville who rides the Catterick bumper winner FLOATING ROCK for Tom Lacey. Although lacking experience (and a year in age) compared with Lantiern, he's certainly an interesting prospect for a trainer with a very strong hand of Hexham runners. Truthfully, the northern-based challenge isn't overly appealing with Miah Grace a place possible and Rapid Raider probably the pick of the Lucinda Russell trio.
