Course winner in the past. Winner on the AW and likely to have needed the run when eighth at Beverley (7f) on Stable debut. Likely to strip fitter but this trip may stretch his stamina.

Latest win came at Musselburgh in July and ran well twice without landing a blow at Beverley, including when fifth despite meeting trouble in running in extended 7f handicap last time. Should go well off current mark.

Put up good performance to finish second at York in July but bombed out at Newmarket (6f) 13 days ago. Only 1lb higher than last winning mark however.

Was a C&D winner on his final start last season but couldn't better encouraging reappearance when last of nine at Goodwood (7f, good to soft) in June. Off since and best watched on comeback start.

Kempton winner in April but has been banging his head since. Improved from recent efforts to finish third in Leicester seller (7f) 16 days ago but that was a weak race. First start for new yard.

Two-time winner on the AW but less effective on turf. Wasn't beaten far at Thirsk two starts ago but disappointed in 7f Ayr handicap latest. Bounce back is required.

Sole win came at Navan in May but largely disappointing for this yard, including when fifth at Hamilton (7f) last time out. Improvement needed on AW debut.

C&D winner in August and bounced back to form with good third over C&D in late September. Usually runs to his mark and should give another bold account. Tries blinkers for the first time.

Last win came over 7f at Chelmsford City and bounced back to form when back at this trip at Wolverhampton 18 days ago. Stayed on nicely that day and is entitled to go well.

Proving to be a handy sort in handicap company, winning at Southwell in April and respectable third back at that venue (1m) when last seen. Has a hefty break to contend with but of interest on this mark.

Was proving to be a frustrating sort until taking chance to land weak handicap over C&D in early September. Could be getting the hang of things now and may have more to offer.

Unlucky second at Ripon two starts ago and didn't get the running when only ninth behind Ghathanfar in C&D handicap last time out. Still a bit to find on ratings with that rival however.

Left William Haggas after one start and not fared well since, including when down the field at Hamilton last time out. Easily opposable from out of the weights.

20:25 Newcastle - 9 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

CASTLE QUARTER was a ready winner at this track in the summer and showed he was still in good heart with his third over C&D last time. The handicapper has treated him lightly by only raising him 1lb on that evidence and is entitled to go well off his current mark. The same can be applied to the likes of Ghathanfar and Termonator, however the previous has to back up his recent win and can be inconsistent, while the latter comes into this off the back of a break. Sharp Talk shouldn't be discounted either and would've been a likely winner last time if he got the run of the race.
  1. Castle Quarter
  2. Ghathanfar
  3. Sharp Talk
