Trainer has a terrific 15-43 (35%) strike-rate with 2yo newcomers this year; by Curlin $1.3 yearling, first foal. Dam US 2yo winner, sister to multiple US graded winner Taris (won 7f, Grade 1). Commands respect on pedigree and record of stable.

Heeraat colt, tongue-tie worn for debut out of a dam who was a 5f winner including as a 2yo. Yard 0-8 with 2yo newcomers this year, best watched for his debut; also been handed an awkward draw.

Much improved from his Sandown debut over 7f when returning to the same C&D last time to finish second to a short-priced previous winner. Only really beaten in the last 100 yards; one to progress although does have the widest draw to cope with.

Nicely-bred Siyouni colt who shaped with plenty of encouragement on his debut over 6f at Newbury particularly as he's bred to be better over further. Travelled as any last time; sure to put that experience to good use here over an extra furlong.

Trainer has a modest 2-31 record with 2yo newcomers this year with this Raven's Pass colt being a first foal. Dam 2yo 1m winner; half-sister to smart 7f winner Ibn Malik (by Raven's Pass). Given the yard's record with debutants best watched for now.

Based on his initial run at Haydock (6f, soft) he looks one who will need time and distance (pedigree backs this up). Lost his place quickly last time out and even over this 7f he looks one who is best observed rather than supported.

From a yard that have had a poor season overall (0-6 with 2yo newcomers) this Canford Cliffs colt makes only limited appeal on his debut. Half-brother to smart 1m (including at two) winner The Grape Escape; dam, ran once.

Cost £60,000 as a yearling, by Society Rock; has looked very green and in need of the experience so far in two races separated by a seven week break. May well be more one for handicaps further down the line.

Most experienced of these by far having already had six starts and carries a penalty for her 7f AW Chelmsford win when holding off two newcomers. Beaten twice since including in a nursery; looks vulnerable back in this company.

Plenty of these are sure to need the experience although given Charlie Appleby’s record with his 2yo newcomers this year the $1.3 purchase by Curlin Desert Peace has to respected on his debut especially as he has a very decent draw. Sir Michael Stoute landed a division of this contest last year and he has a fine chance of doing so again via Mars Landing who ran well against a hotpot at Sandown last time stepping forward from his debut; his wide draw doesn’t help though. NUGGET will be better over this 7f than the 6f he ran over on his debut and his yard’s runners tend to be better with a start tucked under their belts.
