Both runs have come at Ascot, improving on debut form when head second of 16 to Cosmic Power over 6f last time, having led inside the last furlong. That form doesn't look so good in retrospect, but he's far from exposed, so isn't totally ruled out.

Finished lame in the Gimcrack last time, and had previously been third in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and behind Earthlight in the Prix Cabourg (G3) at Deauville. Handles good to soft, and chances if coping with this more testing surface.

Runner-up on easy ground at Ayr in July, but he's not progressing, and his limitation are likely to be cruelly exposed in a race such as this.

Has won three times in six starts on turf. His latest success came at Chester last time over 5f, but he's also scored on soft ground over this trip. Been done no favours by the draw, but has place claims if overcoming that potential drawback.

Maiden after eight starts, and while he has the ability to win a small race, he is rated 50lb inferior to Summer Sands by the handicapper, and that puts his task in sharp focus.

Has justified short odds on both starts on the AW, making all for a comfortable 4½L win in a Kempton novice last time. More on his plate making turf debut, but totally unexposed, and folly to ignore.

Ran poorly on penultimate start, but largely consistent and has run to a useful level in nurseries and Listed events. Well held on only try on soft, but that came when badly drawn in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Went very close on each of her first three starts, and didn't need to improve to get off the mark in an ordinary 5½f novice at Bath last time in first-time blinkers. Consistent, but seems established as short of the standard needed to score here.

Was won three times on ground ranging from soft to good/firm, and produced further improvement when when neck second of 20 to Owney Madden in a competitive nursery at York last time. Looks a solid contender for a place at least.

Runner-up four times in nine starts, but yet to win, and his merit is well established. Lacks the ability to win at this level, even if first-time blinkers have a galvanising effect.

Caught the eye when a staying-on third in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot (5f, soft), and returned to winning ways with a workmanlike success at Hamilton last month. Can get outpaced, so testing conditions should be in his favour.

Won a 7f novice at Thirsk last time, but better form when second of 10 to Duesenberg in a 6f soft-ground novice at Haydock in September. Form of that race might have worked out better, but he's still raw, and has scope for better down the line.

Only just touched off on his nursery debut at Nottingham (6f) in August, but beaten in a modest maiden next time, and disappointing in novice company last time. Plenty to prove.

Carlisle novice winner who improved a little when landing a 17-runner nursery at Ayr (6f, good) last month. Unproven on softer than good, and drawn higher than ideal, so hard to see him following up here.

Has won twice at Chester this season, and improved further when a neck second of 10 to Powertrain in a 7f nursery there last time. Handles heavy ground and can race prominently, so not hard to see her sneaking into the frame.

Behind Glasvegas in the Windsor Castle, but ran creditably in the Gimcrack, and produced an improved effort when third to Earthlight in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes a week ago. Strong claims if this doesn't come too quick.

Won a 5f novice at Ripon in August, but that wasn't a strong affair, and better judged on latest fourth of 6 to Praxeology on nursery debut at Chester last time. Speedy, and stamina for this trip a big concern.

SUMMER SANDS surprised many with his effort in the Middle Park, but the form is reliable enough for all a couple didn't give their running, and his earlier efforts, including on soft ground, suggests he could win this even if a conservative view is taken of his latest run. Troubador looks solid and can take advantage if this race comes too soon for the selection, with Glasvegas also considered, having finished ahead of the favourite at Royal Ascot.
