Justified going off as the 11/10 favourite on his debut in a maiden at Doncaster as he scored by 1¼L in the 7f contest. Will need to carry a penalty here, however, he has a good chance of following up over this same distance.

Finished sixth of 15 on his opening start at Newbury (6f) where he kept on well in the closing stages. This step up in distance may help his chances. Can't discount him if he steps up from his debut.

War Front colt who was foaled on February 18 and cost $1,200,000 as a yearling. Interesting newcomer so keep an eye out for any strong market confidence on his opening run here.

Helmet colt who was foaled on February 17. His dam was lightly-raced without success. He is a half-brother to Filles de Fleur who won over 7f. Likely to do better with experience on his side.

Bated Breath colt who was foaled on February 8 and cost 68,000 gns. His dam won over 1m½f and is closely related to Devotion who scored over 7f as a two-year-old. Looks good on paper. One for the shortlist.

Has finished third of both of his two racecourse starts so far at Sandown, with his latest attempt coming over this 1m trip in a 12 runner contest. Open to further improvement. Leading contender.

Made his debut at Yarmouth (7f) last month where he finished ninth of 12 runners in a maiden contest after weakening inside the final 1f. Should come on for that opener but much more is needed.

Finished last of nine runners on his opening start at Newbury (7f). He raced keenly at the start of that contest which did not help his chances. Needs to settle this time so others are preferred.

Was 13th of 15 runners on his debut appearance at Newbury (6f) where he never really got into the contest after making a slow start. Not one that leaps off the page here on his second run.

Foaled on May 6. His dam was a winner over 1m as a two-year-old., while she also won up to 1m2f. He is a half-brother to multiple winners, including Ceilidhs Dream who prevailed over 1m. Likely type on debut.

Has made two modest appearances so far on the track. He was fifth of 11 last time out at Chepstow (7f) where he was staying on well in the closing stages. Has a lot to find on some of these so others make greater appeal.

Failed to beat a single horse on his debut at Goodwood (1m) back in August in a seven runner field over 1m. He will need to take a huge stride forward here in order to be in the mix at the finish.

Galileo colt who was foaled on February 6. He is a brother to 2000 Guineas winner Gleneagles and Happily who prevailed over 7f as a two-year-old. One to consider on his opening start.

Was a long way off on her debut when she was last of nine runners at this track over 1m after going off at 100/1. Will need to produce much more this time in order to be competitive. Hard to fancy.
Came home eighth of nine on her debut here over 1m last month. She was slowly away and ran green throughout to finish 46L off the winner. Difficult to make a case for on the evidence of her first run.

16:00 Newmarket - 5 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

FINEST SOUND has shown some promise in both of his two starts so far, particularly last time over this distance. He is likely to progress further on that here so take him to break his maiden at the third attempt. Raaeb scored at the first attempt at Doncaster and can be expected to go close again with a penalty on his back, while Vatican City is the most interesting newcomer on paper so expect a big run from him on his debut.
  1. Finest Sound
  2. Raaeb
  3. Vatican City
