1/1
C&D winner when making his AW debut, now steps into handicaps for the first time. Overall form of his win here last time looks fairly ordinary but he features on a fair mark with room for further progress; course experience adds to his chance.

Made a bold bid to win on his handicap debut over 7f at Sandown (headed late on) before being well held last time (slightly out of his depth). Fibresand newcomer; related to AW/Fibresand winners; mark looks a fair one, far from out of this.

Endured a fairly long season having won on his debut in April at Doncaster (5f, good); form since then including in handicaps has been rather in-and-out. Comes here off the back of a poor run at Chester; fibresand debut, others persuade more.

Made up for the misfortune (saddle slipped) that he suffered on his nursery debut to make amends on the Newcastle Tapeta last time over 6f (wore first-time blinkers). Up 6lb, trying a longer trip and a different surface; faces a different scenario.

Put his stamina to good use when winning at Nottingham (6f) in testing conditions for his previous connections. That proved to be his standout effort having had just one run for this yard (finished well held); questions to answer on Fibresand debut.

Yet to win a race despite some creditable effort not least a third last time out behind Najm at Newcastle; looks vulnerable to unexposed sorts. Has worn blinkers and this will be her first experience of Fibresand (sire 1-28 on the surface).

Handicap newcomers who has some experience of this surface when third over C&D last time behind Borsdane Wood. Capable of further progress but does look to have a little work to do with her last time conqueror; not one to totally dismiss.

Slips on the cheekpieces (first-time) for his fibresand debut (related to AW winners) having shown himself to be on a fair mark for this sort of venture. Generally a front-runner he's not out of the equation, more of an each-way proposition.

Forecasts

Borsdane Wood (1/1), Swinley Forest (11/2), Najm (7/1), Iva Reflection (8/1), Creativity (12/1), Kilig (14/1), Pentewan (16/1), Big City (40/1)

18:30 Southwell - 4 October 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Experience on this surface is at a premium here and with BORSDANE WOOD having already won over C&D when taking a maiden recently with Creativity back in third he enters the nursery ranks off a decent mark with the promise of more to come. Swinley Forest returns to calmer waters with his Sandown nursery run off the same mark suggesting he can be competitive in this providing he takes to Fibresand. The same could be said of Newcastle last time out winner Najm who faces a different set of circumstances but isn’t without a chance along with Kilig for whom the first-time cheekpieces might just pull out some more improvement.
  1. Borsdane Wood
  2. Swinley Forest
  3. Kilig
