Smart performer; surprise Abernant Stakes (6f, Group3) winner earlier in the season (66-1) prior to running well in another Group 3 over 6f here under a penalty. Below-par in first-time blinkers when last seen at Deauville (6f, Group 3); stiff task.

Successful in three top handicaps this year at up to 6f; proved he was up to a crack at this company when scoring in a 6f York Listed contest last time. Drops back to a bare 5f (has won over this trip in the past); usually leads, very game sort.

Not quite lived up to some earlier lofty expectations but squeezed home when landing a Doncaster 5f Listed contest last time. Has plenty of raw ability but does need careful handling; only off a short break here, appears best when kept fresh.

Dundalk 5f Group 3 winner last October, yet to win this year; ran well in two Meydan 5f handicaps (start of the year). Returned from a break to run a sound race at Tipperary over 5f, highly tried last time (Group 1), didn't impress with attitude.

Finished down the field in the last two renewals of this race; has won at this level in the past though. Returned to form out of the blue last time to maintain his unbeaten Beverley record (3-3) taking a Listed 5f contest; sound chance on best form.

Five-time winner (all at 5f) in a busy season including taking the Epsom "Dash"; tried at this level and higher before and come up short. Well below form in his last three starts, looks as though a hectic year has caught up with him; more needed.

Good win/run ratio (5-13) with all three wins last year coming at 5f, including one at Listed level. Recently returned from a year off with a respectable effort in a Navan 5f handicap (off 102); takes a strong hold, deserves a chance at this level.

Goes well fresh (won first time out last three seasons), did so again this year taking a 5f Listed contest at Haydock in testing conditions. Needs to bounce back from a poor effort last time (had excuses); tries this grade for the first time.

Forecasts

Dakota Gold (15/8), Equilateral (7/2), Judicial (13/2), Hit The Bid (15/2), Keystroke (11/1), Blue Uluru (11/1), Maid In India (12/1), Ornate (14/1)

13:45 Newbury - 21 September 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Nine of the last 11 winners of this race were rated 109 or higher despite accounting for just over a quarter of the runners and there are just two qualifiers this year with DAKOTA GOLD holding a sound chance of capping off what has been an excellent campaign. His Listed win at York last time is one of the best pieces of form on offer here and he’s taken to beat the Beverley stalwart Judicial who has finished sixth and fifth in the last two renewals but deserves another crack at this. This may come too soon for Equilateral (best fresh) whilst Keystroke has to overcome a penalty which gives him a stiff task and Hit The Bid is seen as a bigger danger to the market leader.
  1. Dakota Gold
  2. Hit The Bid
  3. Judicial
