Broke his maiden at Thirsk (6f, soft) seven weeks ago, making all to beat Radjash by a short-head; although that form is essentially modest, he's a mere 2lb higher and has shown previously that he handles this track (1m).

Still seeking his first win after 12 previous attempts but has plenty of placed form on his CV, including when beaten a neck by Knowing Glance at Carlisle (7f, heavy) in August; no issues with the AW, albeit was a beaten favourite over C&D latest.

Solid on this surface and placed on each of his last three visits to this track, including when beaten 2¾L by Kapono (over 6f) in June; remains on a competitive mark and stays 7f, despite regularly racing over shorter trips.

No win since his juvenile days for Richard Hannon (6f Wolverhampton maiden); has eased steadily in the weights, going fairly close when a keeping on third to Valley Of Fire at Redcar (7f, good to firm) on his penultimate start.

Seeks the hat-trick following soft/heavy ground wins at Ayr and Carlisle (over 7f); both of his AW wins (in 2017 & 2018) came over this C&D, but it should also be noted that he's less well handicapped on the AW.

Absolute Dream10

Had wind surgery over the winter after winning a Redcar novice (6f, soft) last October; has slowly worked his way back to form and is feasibly handicapped (riders 3lb claim a boost); could be positively involved if taking to this surface; chance.

Won a Southwell maiden (5f) in February and progressed initially thereafter; his form has dipped in recent starts (6f), although heavy ground is a possible contributory factor; isn't that convincing overall with added stamina question marks.

Consistent on turf during the spring (6f-7f) with May/early June form figures reading 1,3,2,2; a fraction less productive lately and 6lb higher than the mark that she won off here (6f) last October.

Evie Speed72
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: J Garritty| T: Jedd O'Keeffe| OR:  68
40/1
Ripon juvenile novice winner (6f); little encouragement to be drawn from any of her three efforts in 2019 (has eased 9lb in the weights accordingly); closely related to a 1m AW winner - a watching brief off a 72-day absence on synthetics bow.

Rock Boy Grey21
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-5| J: S Donohoe| T: D M Loughnane| OR:  65
9/2
Lightly-raced (0-6) and almost exploited an easing mark when keeping on for pressure to finish a short-head second to Insurplus over C&D three weeks ago; holds every chance if reproducing that form with a subsequent 2lb rise neither here nor there.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-3| J: Phil Dennis| T: F Watson| OR:  63| CD
66/1
With David Loughnane when winning back-to-back races during April (1m1f-1m2f); returns to action off a 76-day break for a locally-based (Sedgefield) trainer who saddled a winner here on Tuesday; has won over C&D in the past.

Al Ozzdi101
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-2| J: David Egan| T: R Fell & S Murray| OR:  62| DWS
11/1
Just 2lb higher than when scoring by a short-head at Wolverhampton (7f) in June and remains low-mileage on the AW; disappointing on turf next time and returns from a 101-day break following wind surgery; market advice the safest guide.

Castle Quarterp21
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Ben Robinson| T: S Spencer| OR:  64| CD
10/1
Driven out to fend off the diminutive Firsteen on AW debut over C&D last month; can be given a reasonable chance from just a 2lb higher mark if simply electing to ignore a poor subsequent showing at Thirsk (1m).

Bobby Joe Legb21
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-1| J: A Mullen| T: Mrs R Carr| OR:  61| C
50/1
Has witnessed plenty of AW racing since making a surprise winning debut (33-1) over 6f here in November 2017; nowhere near peak form since returning from an early/mid-season break at Thirsk; stablemate of the hat-trick seeking Chaplin Bay.

Forecasts

Rock Boy Grey (9/2), Black Friday (9/2), Blindingly (5/1), Mostahel (7/1), Castle Quarter (10/1), Al Ozzdi (11/1), Chaplin Bay (12/1), Fair Alibi (14/1), Absolute Dream (16/1), Lucky Lodge (25/1), Supaulette (28/1), Evie Speed (40/1), Bobby Joe Leg (50/1), False Id (66/1)

19:20 Newcastle - 20 September 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A wide open handicap. Taking a firm and definitive stance isn't easy, but we'll elect to oppose the hat-trick seeking Chaplin Bay who is less attractively weighted on synthetics. Al Ozzdi and Castle Quarter should be monitored for signs of market support, with the former returning from wind surgery. Rock Boy Grey is lightly-raced and holds every chance of breaking his duck if able to back-up an excellent effort behind Insurplus (ran respectably since) over C&D three weeks ago. However, Richard Fahey's ABSOLUTE DREAM gets the tentative nod on his Tapeta bow. He can prove capable of winning more races soon from his current handicap mark (69).
  1. Absolute Dream
  2. Rock Boy Grey
  3. Castle Quarter
