£25,000 Zebedee colt out of a dam who has produced five winners from eight foals. Stable won this in 2015 and have booked the champion elect to rode.

Only had two outsiders behind him when fifth on Wolverhampton debut but showed clear signs of promise. The way he ran that day did not suggest he needed a drop to 6f.

Ivawood colt has produced two run of the mill performances to date and probably faces his toughest task to date. Hard to fancy.

£11,000 gelded son of Bungle Inthejungle out of a dam who made the frame as a sprinter. Stable have been quiet of late and their strike rate here with this age group is modest.

5/2
£60,000 breeze-up purchase by Hot Streak and half-brother to a couple of winners. Stable are 4-33 with juveniles here but he is worth checking in the market for a race that may take little winning.

Beaten by wide margins on both starts to date at Salisbury. This will take little winning, but it will still be a shock if he proved good enough.

£90,000 Siyouni colt out of a Listed winner who has produced two winners, most notably UAE Jewel. Wide draw not ideal on debut and the market should yield more clues. Stable have a good record in this event.

Bred to be quick but two midfield finishes to date have yet to reveal anything other than a backward colt learning on the job. Could be a surprise package if getting it together and actually breaking on level terms.

Bred to be quick and was sent off favourite for his debut when third at Bath. Showed inexperience when produced wide of the field and the runner-up has scored since. That experience could be put to good use here.

Vandad

9/1
125,000 gns son of Dandy Man out of a dam related to some speedy types. Yard's horses generally improve for a run, but the jockey booking suggests this might be one to note if supported.

Canford Cliffs gelding who is a half-brother to a 14-race maiden in the same yard. Trainer 1-91 with turf juveniles over past five seasons.

Strong pulling son of Kyllachy has shown some promise, but hard to imagine he will start to fulfil that here unless settling a lot better.

Lady Sarah

100/1
Mukhadram half-sister to a 46-rated winning sprinter in the same yard. This may take little winning, but it would still be a surprise if she proved good enough.

Fourth here on debut and the winner was not disgraced in the Lowther. Has stamina on the distaff side and she certainly ran as though she was ready for further than this. Looks a player on form and ought to improve for the experience.

Horse silk

£65,000 daughter of Dandy Man and half-sister to four-time winner Starboy. Yard have turned out four winners of the last ten divisions of this contest.

Forecasts

King Ragnar (5/2), Populaire (10/3), Roman Melody (7/1), Nugget (7/1), Tommy Rock (7/1), Vandad (9/1), Albert Edward (16/1), Theotherside (33/1), Wilfy (33/1), Ivadream (66/1), Malmesbury Abbey (66/1), Doctor Nuno (80/1), Jungle Capers (80/1), Lady Sarah (100/1), Vintage Port (100/1)

13:15 Newbury - 20 September 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Nugget and Theotherside are interesting newcomers for a yard that have a good record in the race. Vandad and Albert Edward are other newcomers to consider. Roman Melody is a potential improver and could go well at a decent price, but Populaire and TOMMY ROCK have already shown more and are just as likely to progress. The former was fourth here on debut when an unconsidered 40/1 outsider but she looked ready for further. In contrast the selection is bred to be quick and inexperience got the better of him on his debut when he was a beaten favourite. He was getting the hang of things late on and losses may be recovered.
  1. Tommy Rock
  2. Populaire
  3. Nugget
