Runner-up twice in novices under a penalty, but a tad disappointing when 5¼L third of 10 to Wedding Blue on handicap debut at Goodwood in May. Has had wind surgery since, so could well get back on the up.
Quickened clear to win with a bit in hand over C&D in July but was touched off back here next time. Again ran with credit when fifth of 7 to Migration here last time, shaping better than the bare result. Not taken lightly.
Has progressed gradually all year, and produced best effort yet when 1½L second of 7 to Migration over C&D last month. Up 3lb for that, but that rise is justified, and he's sure to go close.
Has been running consistently apart from a blip at Ascot two starts back. No knocking his attitude, but he's still 6lb above his last winning mark despite four subsequent defeats.
Scored off 8lb lower at Newmarket in July, and got back on track when neck second of 4 to Cardano in similar event there last time. Should remain in form, but needs a bit more progress to win this.
Had been frustrating, but the fitting of a visor seemed to do the trick when he won at Goodwood last time. Form of that novice yet to be tested, but worth a chance to prove he's turned a corner.
Best effort in handicaps when 1¾L second of 12 to Verify in a 1¼m event at Windsor last time. Earlier efforts suggest he might struggle a bit back in a more competitive environment.

JUST THE MAN has shown progress by degrees all summer, and appeals as capable of finding enough to defy a rise in the weights for his second over C&D last time. Cape Cavalli seemed to benefit from a visor and/or a change of tactics last time, so is respected again, with Maronnier, who tends to go well here, completing the shortlist,
