Horse silk
28/1
£9,000 yearling; ninth living foal from a 6f winning dam; brother to the juvenile scorers Ample (5f) and Skellig Michael (6f AW).
2
(3)
Horse silk
25/1
Sir Prancealot gelding; well beaten on second start at Catterick (7f, good to firm) a fortnight ago and shouldn't be troubling the judge on that evidence.
3
(5)
Horse silk
5/2
Half-brother to five winners, including Home Office (7f) and Whoopsy Daisy (1m2f); minimal promise in two AW starts (7f-1m+); returns to action from an 85-day absence; will be more interesting once sent handicapping.

Horse silk
Fortamour113
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-6| J: G Lee| T: B Haslam
9/4
£37,000 yearling; half-brother to three winners; was relatively prominent in the market (7-2) on debut at Redcar (6f, good to firm) in May, but could only finish seventh of nine to In Trutina; off since.

Horse silk
Its Toytownp111
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-6| J: P J McDonald| T: R M Smith
100/1
Orientor gelding from a 6f winning dam; in rear throughout on both starts (6f-1m); cheekpieces are now applied seeking a complete transformation in fortunes; unlikely.
6
(2)
Horse silk
7/2
Lethal Force filly; third foal; half-sister to two winners, including Newcastle scorer Frank's Legacy (6f/7f); slowly away on debut before running on to finish a never nearer fourth (beaten 2½L) to Havana Jade in a 7f Wolverhampton fillies' novice.

Horse silk
Hey Jazzy Lady24
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Paula Muir(5)| T: A Crook| OR:  45
100/1
Well beaten in the vast majority of her eight career starts (5f-6f), and as a lowly-rated handicapper simply can't be considered as a realistic contender in this contest on her AW debut.

Horse silk
Mithayel Style48
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: C Lee| T: D Thompson| OR:  48
150/1
Left Peter Chapple-Hyam for a mere 1,500gns in May and hasn't achieved anything of note (0-2) since; look elsewhere with confidence.

Horse silk
Ravenscar38
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: S H James| T: Grant Tuer
5/2
Helmet filly (4,000gns yearling); 20-1, but shaped with plenty of promise on debut in a Redcar maiden (7f, good) last month, finishing a keeping on ½L second to Lady Dauphin; sets the standard in a weak race on the basis of that form.

Forecasts

Fortamour (9/4), Clifton (5/2), Ravenscar (5/2), Festina (7/2), Blistering Barney (25/1), Arthur Shelby (28/1), Hey Jazzy Lady (100/1), Its Toytown (100/1), Mithayel Style (150/1)

18:30 Newcastle - 17 September 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

With the possible exception of Fortamour, it's nigh impossible to view this race as anything other than a straight match between the fillies' Festina and RAVENSCAR. Hailing from the Sir Mark Prescott yard the former has the 'sexier' overall profile, and she's expected to come on leaps and bounds for her Wolverhampton debut, but on the figures the Grant Tuer-trained filly boasts the strongest form. She should take plenty of beating if proving to be equally effective on Tapeta.
  1. Ravenscar
  2. Festina
  3. Fortamour
