Caught the eye in finishing third in a 16 runner maiden over an extended 6f at Newbury (good-to-soft) last October, and built on that with a pleasing win over Mogsy at Thirsk on his recent return. Hard to beat despite his penalty.
Half-brother to useful 1m-1¼m winner Iromea and 1m4½f winner Dusk Falls out of a well-related 1m/1m1f winner. Makes a rather belated debut, but in excellent hands, and looks the main threat to Montatham with fitness not expected to be a concern.
Merely hinted at ability on debut over 1m at Thirsk and unsuited by drop in trip there last time. No appeal kept to this sort of trip, but worth watching for low-grade staying handicaps given pedigree.
Related to plenty of winners, but failed to beat a rival in a novice at York in June, looking too inexperienced to do herself justice. May do better in time.
Much better effort to date when 11¼L fifth of 10 to Storting in a Pontefract novice last time, and may do better again, but that form is just modest, and she will be seen to better effect when handicapping.
Iffraaj filly who cost 525,000 guineas as a yearling, but resold for just £29,000 earlier this year. Shaped as if having ability behind a useful prospect on debut at Kempton 17 days ago, but she will probably take a little longer to flourish.
Better effort in novices at Newcastle last winter when 10L fourth of 7 to Set Piece in January, and has had wind surgery since. Plenty to find at this level, for all a hood may be of benefit to her.
Forecasts
Montatham (30/100), Karisoke (5/1), Angel Lane (12/1), Serenading (14/1), Cheerful (20/1), Rent's Dew (25/1), Sils Maria (33/1)
Easy Thirsk winner MONTHATHAM would appear to face a simple task unless newcomer Karisoke is well above average, and the latter still appeals as the one most likely to chase the selection home, for all the well-bred Serenading has the benefit of a previous run.
