9/1
€25,000 Dubai Destination geldng who was made favourite on racecourse bow in Downpatrick bumper three weeks ago. Shaped well until getting tired closing stages and finished fourth. Will know more this time.
Trainer had only one winner in last five seasons. Did very well on debut when unconsidered 33/1 shot in Cork bumper last month, keeping on to finish fourth. Interesting to see if he can build on that promise.

Some promise when seventh on debut at Punchestown in February and may well have found heavy ground against him when eased down at Limerick following month. Better ground here should suit but needs to show more to score.

40/1
Gelded son of Dubai Destination who has shown precious little to speak of in two bumpers so far. Not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.
100/1 and belied odds when fifth of 21 on Rules debut last time in 2m maiden hurdle at this track. First bumper start now and interesting to see if he can prove that no flash in the pan.

Represents top yard with fine record in these events. Pulled up on debut at Wexford in April but hept on at Fairyhouse 18 days later to finish fifth of 19. Hardly appears a potential stable star but is respected at this level.

Horse silk
7/1
Fair efforts in all three bumpers to date without ever threatening to trouble the judge. Could be more of the same here and may do better once she goes hurdling.
1-6 in points and has never been able to get into it in two runs over hurdles so far, although has hinted she might be the type to improve once going handicapping. Would be a surprise winner here.

33/1
Well related Scorpion filly out of useful dam. Looked green on Limerick debut and faded final three furlongs to be well beaten. Open to improvement but may need more time before fulfilling potential.

Forecasts

Drury (4/5), Rian Thomas (7/4), Druim Samhraidh (4/1), Georgina Burgess (7/1), Follow Your Fire (8/1), Barnet Brook (9/1), Onawingandaprayer (16/1), My First Symphony (33/1), Sweet Sting (33/1), Toms Courage (40/1)

17:20 Cork - 5 August 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

RIAN THOMAS ran a nice race after a long absence when runner-up at Ballinrobe a couple of weeks ago and can build on that with a victory here under her fine rider. Drury is open to further improvement after a better effort second time out than on debut when something was clearly amiss, while Druim Samhraidh, and Barnet Brook, along with Onawingandaprayer are others who may get involved.
  1. Rian Thomas
  2. Onawingandaprayer
  3. Drury
