Sir Percy colt, cost €50,000 as a yearling. Dam a half-sister to a 6f Group 3 winner. Made some eye-catching late progress on debut at Ascot and should improve for that here; interesting contender.
Mastercraftsman colt, cost €45,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to a middle distance winner. Dam a winner and half-sister to a US Grade 3 winner. Beaten a long way on debut at Newmarket and may need more time. Yard won this last year.
Bated Breath colt, cost €55,000 as a yearling. While well beaten on debut at Salisbury in June, that form looks fairly solid now and he should improve for the experience. Market can guide.
Improved from debut to finish third of six at Newmarket last time out. That form has been boosted by the winner landing a Listed race subsequently; fascinating contender.
Has shown plenty of ability in both starts to date, only narrowly denied on firm ground at Salisbury last time when stepped up in trip. Could well have more to give.
Epaulette colt, cost 30,000 gns as a yearling. Dam a juvenile winner at this trip and half-sister to a winning miler. Yard's debutantes can often be in need of the run; worth a market check though.
War Front colt, dam a Group 1 winner as a juvenile and sister to an Oaks winner and half-sister to another Group 1 winner. Went close on Curragh debut and while disappointing at Royal Ascot, surely has more to give. Leading claims up in trip.
Bated Breath colt, dam a sister to a Group 3 winner juvenile over this trip who went on to be a US Grade 1 winner. Looked in need of the run in a promising Epsom debut and interesting if any more arrives for him.
Havana Gold colt. Made 250,000gns as a yearling. Half-brother to the talented Spectre. Beaten a long way on Haydock debut and entitled to need more time.
Acclamation colt, cost 155,000 gns as a foal and 220,000 gns as a yearling. Brother to a juvenile winner and half-brother to two more. Dam a half-sister to 6f Group 3 winner. Group 2 entered and worth a market check on debut.
Sir Percy colt, cost 8,000 gns as a yearling. Only narrowly denied over 6f here on debut where he got going late on. Should improve up in trip here.
Forecasts
King Of Athens (6/4), Gold Souk (4/1), Berkshire Rocco (11/2), Great Ambassador (8/1), Smuggler (8/1), Celtic Art (14/1), Persuasion (16/1), Mambo Nights (20/1), Dyami (33/1), Lawaa (33/1), Junkanoo (50/1)
This represents a big drop in class for the well-bred KING OF ATHENS and with the promise of plenty more to come up in trip, he rates as the one to beat from his powerful yard. Smuggler ran well here on debut while debutante Persuasion is another to consider given he holds a Group 2 entry already. Gold Souk could be the main danger to the selection having after a good third on Newmarket debut.
