Hit the line well enough with a good third in a truly run race on his first try at this trip. Back on last winning mark and dropped in grade. Rates a likely leading contender.
Lost his form over hurdles for Gordon Elliott in Ireland and recently returned to the Flat for new stable following wind surgery. Needs to improve plenty on that run and others preferred.
Only just failed to justify favouritism when runner-up at Leicester (1m2f; good to firm). Broke maiden duck the time before that. Up in grade but no reason to see why she can't continue on her upward curve.
Yet to win here but has gone close on a few occasions. Arrives here in form with a Beverley win and a close fourth at Chester. Could be competitive again but will need to be at his very best to win off this mark.
Generally going close in most of his recent starts and now 2lb lower than last win. Not far off that winning level last time and handles any ground. Should be competitive once again.
Was successful over this trip at Beveverley earlier this month and then ran well on his latest appearance at Ripon off this revised mark. Racing to a consistent level now for his new stable and should be thereabouts again.
Last of two wins came over this C&D last August and now 4lb lower. Bit below that level this year but was unsuited by a slow tempo last time and may far better here.
Best form has come wiith underfoot conditions including his sole win over a mile here. Would need plenty of rain and his recent form in a lower grade isn't good enough.
Up 4lb for his Nottingham win and he seems to prefer softer conditions. That form was up near his best so more improvement would be needed moving up from class 6 company.
Forecasts
Billy Roberts (15/8), Sod's Law (5/2), Regal Mirage (6/1), Firewater (10/1), First Dance (12/1), Railport Dolly (14/1), Bit Of A Quirke (16/1), Pete So High (20/1), Frankster (25/1)
Regal Mirage is on a good mark and barring his Hamilton run is proving a reliable performer. He should have every chance of adding to the 2013 and 2014 wins for his stable in this race. Narrow preference is for SOD'S LAW who is down in class and should have more improvement to come on his second try at this distance. Railport Dolly is improving and along with the consistent Billy Roberts are others to note.
