25/1 C&D win his fifth overall and first for this yard. Upped 5lb for the success today but clearly enjoys it here and hard to envisage him not making another bold bid.

One of four representatives for last year's winning yard and this consistent sort won at Newcastle two starts back before a close third at Hamilton. Little wiggle room in current mark but still likely to give a good account.

Beat Duke Of Firenze in a 5f contest on his favoured soft ground at Doncaster latest so is in good form but never won on faster than good so conditions here a worry.

Made all to beat Tarboosh at Haydock (5f, good to soft) last September and ran well enough when fifth on return at Newcastle latest. Tough ask to make all here but he will certainly try to do so.

Won this race 12 months ago and is 2lb lower now having gone winless since. Eighth behind Gulliver latest over C&D but that about the only time he's run moderately at this course so better expected today.

Not won since 2016 but his C&D second to Gulliver penultimately reads well although his latest effort over 5f at Ascot was very disappointing. Each way potential if he can bounce back.

6f Thirsk winner earlier this season ran well over the same distance when second at Redcar last Sunday. In deeper waters now and others look better treated overall.

One of four representatives for last year's winning yard and the ride of stable jockey David Allan. Won at Ripon two starts back but two frankly poor efforts here since both give him lots to find with rivals who finished well ahead.

C&D third to Gulliver penultimately and now 6lb better off for 2L so weighted to go seriously close. Hamilton effort latest can be attributed to soft ground but back on a sound surface he makes genuine appeal.

Likable veteran won twice this season including valuable handicap here over 5f. Ran well enough twice since to think this higher mark not impossible but is better over the minimum trip so could be outstayed late on.

6f Doncaster winner finished fifth to Staxton at Newcastle next over 5f and occupied the same position since in a valuable 19-runner Ascot contest also over 5f. Others may be better treated but the sort to always consider in such contests.

Newmarket second of six latest a bounce back to form after finishing 17th of 18 over C&D behind Gulliver (and several others) penultimately. Tall order to turn the tables nevertheless.

Won twice for John Gosden over 7f and started well over 6f for this yard with two seconds. Last of 14 at Thirsk and ninth of 18 behind Gulliver since however suggest others better options today.

14:40 York - 27 July 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Winning a contest such as this off a mark of 104 will take some doing but ENCRYPTED was a really progressive sort last year winning a 20-runner C&D handicap and a Listed race later down the line and after his encouraging return at Group Three level latest he can bounce back to prove himself a true Group horse by winning this off top-weight. Having beaten a whole host of these over C&D latest Gulliver will be popular and should make a bold bid to follow up despite a 5lb rise. Tim Easterby is often the man to follow in sprint handicaps here and he won this last year with Flying Pursuit but this time around Golden Apollo appeals most of his quartet.
