Horse silk
5/1
Flat-bred who outran his odds and more fancied rivals when making a winning debut at Market Rasen in May; form yet to be tested. Now carries a penalty (never an easy task in bumpers) against some decent looking rivals; can't be ruled out though.

Horse silk
100/1
Tongue-tie on for his debut having cost £6,500 as a three-year-old and related to a couple of Flat winners. Stable not really noted for bumper runners/winners; 0-18 in the last five seasons (0-6 with newcomers), others appeal more.
Only one of these that ran in point-to-points (0-4); beaten favourite on last two starts when with Andrew Pennock. Now makes his bumper stable/bumper debut for a yard that are 1-9 with bumper newcomers since 2014; limited appeal.

Horse silk
250/1
Started at 66-1 and 200-1 in two bumper outings only beating one rivals home so far finishing tailed off at Hexham last time. Yard 0-13 in this sphere (last five seasons) and it would be a major shock if those statistics improved here.
Yard yet to have a debut bumper winner from a limited supply (0-6); third foal of an unraced dam but one who has some decent relations. Might be worth a second glance if there is any support for him.

11/8
Yard have a 21% strike-rate with bumper newcomers since 2014; by Yeats this one cost £16,500 as a three-year-old. Half-brother to a bumper winner, clearly needs respecting given connections and the record of the trainer in this sphere.
Rare runner at Stratford for the yard with this one making his debut there (looked in need of the experience; took a strong hold). Senior rider now takes over so more could be forthcoming with some experience tucked away.

Horse silk
7/4
The lesser of two runners that his former stable had in a Perth April bumper but he beat his stablemate and favourite into third. He was runner-up to one from the yard he's now joined (runs in those colours); strong claims on that effort.

20/1
Cheap purchase (£800) who is related to winners and showed something to work on from his Warwick bumper debut. Ran well below that level when next seen though at Market Rasen; plenty to prove now.

Forecasts

Heart Of A Lion (11/8), No Quarter Asked (7/4), Rory And Me (5/1), Nomountainhienough (9/1), Friends Don't Ask (16/1), Wbee (20/1), Champagne Vintage (25/1), Alneel (100/1), Canneyhill Bob (250/1)

Quite an interesting bumper and one that has a few possibilities as to the outcome. Given the record of Alan King in this sphere especially with newcomers his Heart Of A Lion must be of interest and strong market support would heighten confidence. Rory And Me has already shown that he has ability but he’ll need to be useful to overcome his penalty while Nomountainhienough should show more this time with Brian Hughes replacing a conditional rider for his second start having shown his inexperience at Stratford. Peter Bowen’s NO QUARTER ASKED is the ultimate suggestion having been bought from Stuart Crawford after showing up well to finish second to a Bowen winner on his Perth debut.
  1. No Quarter Asked
  2. Heart Of A Lion
  3. Rory And Me
