Carrig Cathalt8
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: K J Brouder(5)| T: S J Mahon| OR:  130| D
14/1
Inauspicious start to life over fences. Winner of Ballinrobe handicap chase three starts ago before finishing well beaten at that track and at Wexford (2m4f, good) last time out. Gives weight all round but this is an easier contest.
2
Horse silk
11/8
Modest hurdling form but put up a career best when winning Clonmel beginners chase in early June. Some sketchy jumps that day but is nonetheless a leading contender for powerful yard.
3
Horse silk
Or Jaune De Somozap138
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  131
3/1
Consistent sort over fences. Winner of Fairyhouse beginners chase (2m4f) in April before running well behind Farclas and Dinons in novice chases this season. Drops back in trip and cheekpieces are on for the first time. The one to beat.
4
Horse silk
Plinthp,t9
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-8| J: N P Madden| T: J P O'Brien
13/2
Useful hurdler who has started well over fences and landed Kilbeggan novice chase when last seen over the larger obstacles. Last-place finish in Grade 3 hurdle can be ignored and one to consider in easier contest.
5
Horse silk
100/1
100/1 outsider for both chase starts under rules. Distant ninth at Kilbeggan on penultimate start before falling at Punchestown latest. This looks a tough ask.
6
Horse silk
Father Jedt26
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: Donagh Meyler| T: J P Ryan
50/1
Winner on final start over hurdles but 33l behind Plinth on his chasing debut at Kilbeggan (2m4f, good). Has a lot to find with that rival.
Twice a winner over hurdles and put in an error-strewn round of jumping when sixth in Ballinrobe beginners chase (2m1f, good) in May. Entitled to do better but needs to find more to be competitive.

Forecasts

Cool Colonnade (11/8), Or Jaune De Somoza (3/1), The Holy One (7/2), Plinth (13/2), Carrig Cathal (14/1), Father Jed (50/1), Captain Commander (100/1)

16:30 Limerick - 13 July 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The first three in the betting market are likely to dominate proceedings and preference is for OR JUANE DE SOMOZA, who has run into some useful chasers so far this season and is likely to be sparked up by cheekpieces in a bid to help with a strong finish. Plinth looked to be revitalised by fences in his Kilbeggan victory and merits considering, however his lack of consistency is a worry while Cool Colonnade could be one to improve from this race in the future.
  1. Or Jaune De Somoza
  2. Plinth
  3. Cool Colonnade
