Showed that this trip suits when very good second to the progressive Awe at Newmarket earlier in June. Not disgraced in ultra competitive 6f York handicap since. Return to 7f a plus but widest draw isn't.

Followed very good second in hot handicap at Goodwood with slightly lesser effort behind the top weight at Newmarket but only just over 2L to find with that one and has fared better with the draw.

First and third in two previous visits here. Drawn on wrong side in Brittania Stakes at Royal Ascot last week and capable of bouncing back from better draw today.

Showed an impressive turn of foot to score at Kempton on first go over this trip and 7lb rise for that seems fair. Proved he is fine with good ground on only run on turf and looks sure to be very popular from his decent draw.

1-8 at this venue. Showed at Newmarket last time that 7f is now his trip with a staying on fourth splitting Blown By Wind and Jack's Point which came on the back of a game Doncaster win. Claims.

Landed three runner race on the AW in Janurary and was off then until the big May meeting here when having trouble in running in race won by Lincoln Park. Better than he was able to show on that occasion but wide draw makes things tough.

Has struggled on soft ground since Beverley win in April. Underfoot conditions more to his liking though bit to prove on form. Also entered 5-50 here on Friday.

In good heart during busy spell on the AW in winter but well below form in two runs back after gelding operation and plenty to prove now with first time visor replacing cheek pieces.

Forecasts

Mawakib (6/4), Barristan The Bold (7/2), Gabrial The Wire (9/2), Lincoln Park (5/1), Jack's Point (6/1), Pacino (8/1), Blown By Wind (14/1), Buckingham (14/1), Forseti (20/1), Athmad (25/1), Woodside Wonder (28/1)

15:10 Chester - 29 June 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

MAWAKIB produced a telling burst to put the race to bed at Kempton last time and with proven form on turf as well, he looks sure to prove hard to beat in his follow up bid. Jack's Point can come out best from the Newmarket handicap four of these contested earlier in the month and along with Barristan The Bold may give the selection most to do.
  1. Mawakib
  2. Jack's Point
