Steps back up in trip having shown that he acts around this tricky course last time over 2f shorter (took a while to get going). Should be suited by this 2f longer trip with a second breathing op looking to have helped him' up 3lb from last time.

Her two handicap starts so far have seen her produce a couple of decent performances (failed to improve over 1m6f last time). Best effort so far has come at 1m4f; certainly looks capable of winning a handicap off this mark if handling the course.

One of two handicap newcomers who looks as though he's one of the lesser lights from this top-class yard. Claimer-ridden without headgear last time; now gets an upgrade in both spheres up significantly in trip; positive market vibes should be noted.

Turf/handicap debut over 1m6f at Bath (wore first-time visor) brought about little appreciable improvement from his three qualifying runs, folded tamely. Now back in trip with cheekpieces on for the first-time; hard to recommend.

From a stable that do well with their handicapper here (21% strike-rate) she made some progress on her Beverley handicap debut over this trip. Should find that run aiding her development; remains unexposed and nicely weighted.

Like most of these has something to prove as yet in handicaps and ran no sort of race at all on his turf debut over 1m6f at Bath last time. The handicapper has dropped him 3lb for that effort but he remains with something to find.

Plenty of experience in handicaps but he's failed to build on what looked a good handicap debut as a juvenile in three starts since. His best form has been over a lot shorter than the trip he faces here; beaten favourite last time (can be slow away).

Handicap debutante who was upped to 1m for her turf debut (ran moderately) and now faces a stiffer test. Even in a modest contest such as this her appeal is limited especially stepping up to this trip.

One of only two winners in the field he showed improved form to get off the mark in what was a weak race on the AW at Lingfield over this trip (Goodwood Sonnet well beaten). Now has to prove he can back this up off 3lb higher back on turf.

Failed to improve in two runs for this yard on AW/turf (tried over 1m6f last time). Yard are always to be respected with their runners around here but hard to make a case from just out the weights with a visor back on.

19:50 Brighton - 18 June 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This looks quite a competitive heat for the grade with the blinkered first-time handicap newcomer Funny Man one of the more interesting candidates and any market support should be noted. Stone Cougar (stable do well here) and Dear Miriam both look as though they are candidates to win handicaps at this level over staying trips and enter the equation. OLIVER HARDY needed every yard of the 1m2f trip to score here last time and this extra 2f is likely to see him in a much better light with just a 3lb rise in the weights to cope with. Highway Robbery improved last time but has to prove that he can reproduce that form on turf.
  1. Oliver Hardy
  2. Dear Miriam
  3. Funny Man
